I don't think I'm going to upgrade to the AD - I'm pretty sure I would miss the sound of these. Of course, that may change once reviews start coming in.

I started a thread specifically for recommending amps with the Mad Dog and I'd appreciate all of your thoughts. I'm an absolute novice when it comes to this, so I'm counting on those of you who have been around the block a few times.

Cheers,

Aaron

I think it would just be better to keep amp recommendations for mad dogs in this thread.

Just so long as people don't get tired answering the same question a hundred times!

It's a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing that I'm not the only one who would appreciate having that information in one place. Some owners may have a heck of a lot to say about this, but never felt compelled to. If it gains traction, cool. If not, that's cool, too. Life goes on in either case.

I subscribed just in case! I don't think its a bad idea, for sure!

I actually agree with doubleea71 here. This question is asked MULTIPLE times per week and then mixed in with 120 pages of responses on every kind of issue. I dont know if you can reasonably expect everyone to comb through all the pages to get a real answer to that specific topic.Likely someone new will just ask again and we'll go down the same road ... Again ...

I used the 'search this thread' feature (in this thread), entered 'amp' and it turned up a slew of posts about whether an amp is 'source' or not. Searching the thread really isn't all that convenient in this case - only the first few lines of the post are displayed, after which you have to go to the entire post to see the rest. It's about equal parts clicking and reading, which sort of defeats the purpose. I think it works better if you're searching for posts on a specific product.

If people recommend and discuss amps for the Mad Dog in a dedicated thread, I think it will produce more complete and well thought-out responses to the question rather than passing comments.  Okay, I've made my pitch - let's see what happens (if anything).

Nope doublea71!
I also agree with you and subbed to your thread! ;-)

Good idea. I got my portable amp bassed on advice here (PB2 is great with the MDs), but I had to ask for it. It was a bit tough to search.

I'd love to see that too.

and the CEntrance HiFi-M8 makes for an excellent mate with my Mad Dogs

(but don't wanna sound like a broken record, as I've said this before)

I'm wondering if they are single-ended or balanced.

I have the universal connector on my Mad Dogs (so I have 1/4" and balanced) -

but when I use them w/ the Hi-Fi-M8 I always use the 4-pin XLR (balanced) connector.

I found the sound so engaging I had to take it to my doctors appointment (shown

in the waiting room below):

and I played it for my doc too!

I mention it in my review of the HiFi-M8 actually.
