We don't do adaptors today, we actually do full cables....

I wasn't suggesting an adaptor, I was suggesting:

Plug-that-connects-to-Universal-Mad-Dog

    wired by cable to

        4 banana plugs.

Otherwise, one has to use your existing cable:

Plug-that-connects-to-Universal-Mad-Dog

    wired by cable to

        XLR plug

AND connect that to a custom made second cable:

        XLR jack

            wired by cable to

                4 banana plugs

(which has needless extra XLR connectors and needless extra expense)

Thanks !

That second cable, which you would only need to be a few inches long is called an "adapter".

this should be a piece of cake... from the can straight to 4 bananas.

Yup. If you are using solder less banana plugs it's even less work than a normal cable.

Understood.

But I was hoping to eliminate the XLR jack and plug altogether...

Honestly, asking a small headphone company like Mrspeakers to accommodate all these different types of connectors, cables, etc. is quite uncanny. They offer more options than most if not all other companies that I know of. If there is a desire for other specialty cabling, I think that should be done through a aftermarket cable company like Toxic, Moon Audio, etc. I'd rather the R&D and resources go into other ventures. But that is just me...

Counterpoint.

I think it only fair that Speakers there should profit from aftersale accessories of his own product. I would rather see him do the custom work, even at a premium price if necessary, and make the profit which in turn can be put into the RD.

Just a thought:)

Very true. Although the initial cost for R&D etc. would need to be there. Also, I think Dan has done a wonderful job of listening to his customers. He has progressed his company very fast and very well. But there comes a point where the endless requests and trying to accommodate everyone's wishes becomes just too much..

Good points.

I think my biggest fear is that some boutique cable seller will conkoct a 1000 dollar cable and defeat the whole spirit of the exercise.biggrin.gif

Good point, valid concern. I certainly wouldn't buy one. Good copper, good connectors, good workmanship and good value are where it's at for me. That frequently means stock cable, though I do have one custom Senn cable. It looks nice and was a good deal. Oh, guess I forgot looks nice in my list. I like eye candy as much as the next guy. Ok, I'll get out of your conversation now...

Not my conversation its an open (mostly) board. I think it's great that everyone can throw up ideas and opinions here for Speakers himself to sift through.

Counter-counterpoint....well actually I got nothing.

But I do like it when adapters match the cable being used on the cans. Perhaps instead of offering accessories rather offer custom work without needing to offer and actual product in his item listings. So whoever requires an adapter and if Mrspeakers is willing can order to his/her individual needs..

In saying that, it appears there seems to be quite the love for Emotiva when it comes to Mad Dogs so much so that I think some custom speaker adapters might be an interesting business tactic.

I'll second that - the balanced ( or SE custom) cable is really nice. I have the balanced, waiting impatiently for a custom SE with 1/8" plug.

Edit - oops, you got in between my and jibzilla above. It was jibzilla's post I was seconding...
