Balanced volume control

I'd like to have a volume control at my DAC's voltage output (no I/V), before the JFET buffer. Something like in the attachment below, thus only needing a dual pot for balanced stereo volume control.
Now, I've seen a way to hook up a linear pot with a shunting resistor to fake a log pot, retaining the advantage of better tracking in the linear pot, in this link:

My problem is, I don't know how to do this in my configuration, where the pot is acting as a variable resistor.

As far as I can tell, you're SOL. The linear pot + resistor as aprox log is only good when you're deal with a voltage divider. Here, we're talking about a simple rheostat. I can't think of a good way to get variable log resistance other than using a log pot.
