Thanks for pointing me this way, Darryl. I think I had read about this convertor many moons ago, but never checked back after I sold off my system. Now that I'm back in the game I'm very grateful for having it brought back to my attention.

And with that, did you ever end up receiving it and connecting it to the PWD Mkii? Or to your Master 7 or your brand new DR-777?

The reviews on it sound great so far, but I'd love to hear yours considering how much they'd apply to me :-D

Besides that, any more development these past 2-3 months?

Common, any more of these out there? Is anyone possibly using the I2s on theirs?? That's the connection I really want to hear about...

I'd also tried searching the web a bit, but it's hard to find some real good, honest reviews and not just ones that seem like quasi-ads. Can anyone point me to a good review? I've read the other thread on here about comparing it to the Audiophilleo and the iUSBPower. Thanks.

Hi! Any news about the Silver Dragon review or Audiobyte's new line (Hydra-X+ and Black Dragon)? Has anyone tried them? Do any of their DACs with Preamp function include a remote control?

I am using the Silver Dragon now for some months not even think about to buy something else. The headphone section is better than on HDVD-800 on direct comparison but not better than a 4xboard b22.The best part is the DAC section wich i use when running Stax amplifiers. The DAC is very analog like in it's presentation and when using XLR outputs it makes very good 3D imaging and the DAC has also a filter switch wich i use sometimes depends what i'm listening. Not tested the I2s connection asked Audiobyte about it they answered that they do first have to buy the licences for it.DSD sounds excellent. It has a remote control and that is easy to use you can choose filters volume and source with it.The soundstage is bigger and deeper and more natural against HDVD-800. It has not enough power to run headphones like HE-6 .Smooth/liquid/natural/easy never harsh i like it very much

Thank you kindly! Is the volume control for the headphone output only, or does it fluctuate the volume for the balanced and unbalanced output as well (pre function)?

I'm looking into their Black Dragon model, very curious about the differences between the two, but I guess no one heard the new unit yet since it will only start shipping next week, as I understand from Nicolae.

If and when I get my hands on one, I'll post some impressions, but still no possibility to compare the sound of the two, unless I find a willing owner of the Silver Dragon around Sibiu, Romania :)

As nobody told you till now, let me be first:

Welcome to Head-Fi and sorry about your wallet!

as for Hydra X+, I may have one in the near future, as mine needs a small fixing job and I might just upgrade to that one. Nucu already told to Dan that it should sound the same as Hydra X...we shall see

From what I know black dragon will soon be out. I am really curious about their new DAC based on msb dac chips, the WaveDream as it should sound heavenly from what I have heard:

Can't wait to hear and review it!!!

Man, their DACs look nice! Like the craftsmanship/assembly looks really top notch.

I also just emailed Audiobyte about the Hydra-X+. I'm really interested in the unit for my PWD Mkii over I2s, as I'd mentioned, so I'll post anything good that I hear back from them.

Which unreleased DAC was it that the owner was really proud off when you interviewed him, Dan? Well, I guess he thinks it must be rather good :D Was it the wavedream?

5. What is the product you’re most proud of and why?

The product that I’m most proud of …is not ready yet. We are working on our own conversion technique which uses no dac chips.. will be probably released into the Hydravox dac.
