New Cavalli Audio Portable Amp officially in the works - Page 16

Ah.

Oh well, I lost interest anyways when I learned that all of their products are over $3k. Don't think I'd even want to get something for free for a company that charges that much for a headphone amp...

...but then I'm the guy who morally shames people who drive expensive cars, so I'm probably pretty alone here.

What a bizarre post!

Quoting yourself as "The guy who morally shames people who drive expensive cars" is perverse, especially in an audio forum. Besides which, what's inherently 'wrong' with folks spending their hard earned cash any way that they please?!? In the context of superlative head-fi amplifiers, Cavalli Audio make reasonably priced gear, so please do your research before making ludicrously incorrect statements.

I feel we are getting off topic if one person decides this is to expensive that's one persons opinion.

So in that spirit does anyone have any info on the power out put? I want to get a vorzuge pure 2 for my UERMs but if this can drive orthos the way the gold does and do iems the way the prototypes do I'll probably get this instead

I don't think the portable will be $3k though... and I'd happily take one for free!

I'd say the cost of their amps are justified.  I can't afford them, but I can see why they cost what they do.  Imagine what it would cost for such a small company to design and prototype something like a Liquid Gold.

re: the expensive car thing, I think if someone wants to study hard and go to university for 10 years to become a specialist doctor and work their arses off for a good salary then they are entitled to spend their money on whatever they like.  I mean, you bought a $1000 pair of earbuds.  Why is that less morally shameful than someone buying a luxury car?

Really wish it had AirPlay support, then i would buy it immediately.  We need a wireless lossless dac for portable use.

The AK240 will stream over your wireless.  Not sure if it supports Apple though.  Apple doesn't really like companies bringing out stuff that works with their products...

How exactly is it perverse? What does this being an audio forum have anything to do with it?

I'm not saying Cavalli doesn't make good products. I just think spending $3000 on audio gear is, coincidentally, rather perverse.

They have every right, I don't intend to question that; I only question how reasonable it is in the broader scope of things. But that's a personal opinion.

I actually bought my JH13s used for less than half price, and I'm selling them because I think even that price was unjustified.

Cheap is cheap.  Some audiophiles aspire to hearing a difference, and unmitigated playback fidelity in their music is a life choice priority.

*shrug* I'm very happy with my gear, which isn't cheap by any means, but I'd rather take the money I save by placing ethics and moderation on par with audio fidelity, and put it towards investments and charities. Everyone has their own priorities though.

Sounds so very enlightened. Congrats on the remarkable restraint you've exhibited thus far, considering how long/often you've hung out on this forum.

 Well to be fair, until about a year ago my financial capabilities held a pretty firm leash on the depths of my addiction, but my restraint is being tested moreso these days...
