Tralucent Audio 1Plus2 Review (caution: long read). - Page 5

Alright.

Here are some of my thoughts (and please bear in mind that I'm using the upgraded gold/silver cable and not the stock silver or silver/gold cables):

Artist - Track Name Bass with T1 Mids with T1 Treble with T1
BENI - もう二度と・・・ Better control and slightly more emphasis. Less forward, but more lush
Liquid Tension Experiment - Kindred Spirits     Less forward, less sparkly/bright

Apart from the above, in my opinion, the T1 opens up the stage a little more. What I would say though is that I'm not sure it would be easy to make out the differences unless you are listening to it in a quieter environment.

They are far too different! I'll give some impressions but my word will it be difficult. biggrin.gif

My I ask why Mr cravenz, who had expressed concerns about spending so much on a pair 1p2s (in a different thread), now got himself a pair of PF Xs, and not a pair of VIIIs or IXs? Or, are the Xs a loaner? And, if not a loaner, why get a pair of PFs at all in the first place? (genuinely curious)

The Piano Forte X is on loan. I had no intention of going into it otherwise really. Not something I was looking at especially at its price point.

I have the MS-AK100 on loan and the owner of them also loaned me the Piano Forte X and the TG334s. This way, at least I can now say I've heard the Piano Forte X which is a completely different beast altogether :)

It's not for me to do a proper full on review or anything. It's more curiosity and also because a few people I'll be meeting up with this week are interested in demo-ing the items.

Trust that clarifies mate.

^^    Yes, certainly clarified — thanks.

Well, the K3003 are said to be the indisputable Kings of Incoherence, treble peaks & sloppy bass (oh yes, awful phones indeed!). The Piano Fortes, in case you didn't know, in some circles have been described as an "abomination", "crap", "a piece of sh*t"— seems to me they sound a little worse, even, than the AKGs.

So, here's hoping the PFs live up to these very colourful descriptions!

I'll have to admit that whilst I've read a little bit about it and how they polarise views, I haven't read anything further. So I'm in it with open ears and all that. That said, I nearly didn't want to take the Piano Forte X because well...they sounded off to me (and I didn't want to take them in case they got returned and crap hit the fan). Obviously, I hadn't read the thread. Anyhow, the sound issues were due to firstly not knowing the proper way to get them to fit and secondly because I'm only a wee one, I do have honest to goodness issues getting a comfortable fit. Let's not talk about a seal biggrin.gif

They are very very different from the norm. I like the change, not something I can live with though because I have small ears, and the lack of isolation along with the shallow fit, doesn't work at all with me. These are very much an "at home" earphone and something of a luxury. I have to admit though, based on my short listening of the Piano Forte X, I think I've heard the good and bad of it already biggrin.gif

On the k3003, whilst they didn't suit my sound preferences, I don't remember the bass being "sloppy". I'll have to give them a listen again at some point. But I don't find it too fair to call something crap etc. Everything has its place, and everything can be appreciated, unless a company is trying to pull a fast one over others.

^^    Please post your unfiltered honest take on the PFs on the FAD thread when you're ready. (seriously)

Yup, but it won't be extensive and will have to be very basic impressions as I only have them a week along with the TG334s and the MS-AK100. That and work makes it difficult for me to get too much listening in! But I have to admit that I'm excited about getting home everyday to have a listen to the gear :)

So on that note, I'll try, but I give no guarantees if I'll be able to give anything more than some basic and short impressions.

Believe me, I wasn't expecting a 1p2 essay-type post.  ;)
