On another note I got my sixth (!) Tenore in about 10 minutes ago. I've been able to return three of them, and am currently in possession of three. Anyone following this thread knows that one of mine has a bit too much bass, and the other is a little bass light with a 1-2dB treble peak.

This new set has none of those issues. So far it sounds perfect. Less midbass than my bassy Tenore, and more bass and slightly less treble than my non-bassy Tenore. The Goldilocks pair! Was it worth buying six pairs and paying all that shipping? I think so. If I get channel imbalance again though I'm definitely giving up forever.

Additionally, anyone with a non-bassy (or bass-lacking more specifically) Tenore can try a very deep fit, as in past the second bend of the ear canal, to increase bass response and reduce the small treble peak.

I am very very satisfied with the sound of this current Tenore. I only hope more people are experiencing this particular sound. It's definitely not warm or thin anywhere. There is zero extra warmth in the midrange. Mid-bass is very close to ER4S levels, within 1dB imo. Treble is also as present as on the ER4S, not warmer at all.

Again it's a shame about inconsistency issues, but when the Tenore is good it's the best.

Do I recall correctly that you ordered your pairs from Woodlandhills on Ebay? I just heard Idsynchrono's pair, and I need to stock up on a few pairs at least! Really a shockingly great sounding IEM (at anywhere from $200-500+, let alone the going $40-60).

Yes I've gotten two pairs from woodlandhills_cass on eBay, one of which is a little bass-light with more treble, and the other which I received today and is probably the best in-ear I've heard. The bass-light pair becomes much more linear when I wear them very deep, sounding almost exactly like my reference set when comparing with tones. Even though their FR's are different with a shallow fit, I like having one require a deep Ety-like fit because it increases isolation.

The magnets inside the tenore are strong. Will there be any adverse effects.

Maybe that's why it needs so much burn in 😱

Cool, thanks. I just ordered two sets. I will see if they sound like Idsynchrono's... I hope so.

Mine sound extremely similar to the hd600, but there is a touch less mid bass, which I find a touch too much (only very slight) on the hd600. That makes the hd600 lower sub bass sound a touch masked or low compared to its bass and midbass. Whereas my tenore sub bass sound level with the bass/midbass, which is why i actually prefer it over the hd600. And the treble is more even for me as well, the hd600 has a very very slight treble rasp (again i'm talking slight), whereas my tenore doesn't. The main difference is that the tenores are closed in and isolated from noise with a smooth silky sound, while the hd60 sound a touch drier with the open back spaciousness...

As for the hd580, my friend's old pair sounded excellent. Very similar to the hd600, but less low end overall a bit and a slightly less even treble response. But still very nice for the price.

I agree. The hd600 is awesome for details even with the slight mid bass warmth.

LMAO. You can always use them to pickup small screws you drop when you're working on a computer. ;) just dangle the iem down until it sucks up the screws. And it will sound great doing it too. ;-P

On another note, the clip zip has been awesome in an altoids tin. I never even thought a fuze would fit in one! And the tenores fit perfectly on top so they don't move around and aren't squished by the lid at all. Excellent!

Lol, the word hype on the dictionary should have a direct reference to Head-Fi, my first Tenores pair hasn't even arrived yet and you guys are making me consider ordering a second pair. And i haven't even listened to them... I hadn't visited this place in years, i just came here to look for some decent cans. I've already ordered two different pairs of cans, an iem and if i stay here for a few more weeks, i see myself selling blood, semen and probably a kidney to buy myself ten more of everything.

Just got my Tenore and they sound amazing . First track I listened was Andain - Promises and I was able to hear a lot more detail than with my pistons IF .

Do they require an amp to shine even more?

One of my fav songs :) Glad they do well. Love the MS54 remix of it
Have you listened to the mashup Promises vs. Pressure? Gotta listen to that!

This is the remix i'm listening to (MS54 Remix) :) . It gives the song a great sound ! Actually I haven't listened to the mashup yet but intent to do it ;)

Andain has great songs although live performances are really bad . Her voice is edited to sound like that. Promises and Beautiful Things always put a smile on my face .

On my other question do you happen to know if the tenores need an amp to shine (even more) ?

PS: Forgot to mention that Pressure is my personal favourite song (the remix of course) . Nadia Ali has a magical voice and its tailored for this genre of music
