The PR wasn't quite as peaky in the treble, and I might say that the PR had a bit more bass, but not much.
On another note I got my sixth (!) Tenore in about 10 minutes ago. I've been able to return three of them, and am currently in possession of three. Anyone following this thread knows that one of mine has a bit too much bass, and the other is a little bass light with a 1-2dB treble peak.
This new set has none of those issues. So far it sounds perfect. Less midbass than my bassy Tenore, and more bass and slightly less treble than my non-bassy Tenore. The Goldilocks pair! Was it worth buying six pairs and paying all that shipping? I think so. If I get channel imbalance again though I'm definitely giving up forever.
Additionally, anyone with a non-bassy (or bass-lacking more specifically) Tenore can try a very deep fit, as in past the second bend of the ear canal, to increase bass response and reduce the small treble peak.
I am very very satisfied with the sound of this current Tenore. I only hope more people are experiencing this particular sound. It's definitely not warm or thin anywhere. There is zero extra warmth in the midrange. Mid-bass is very close to ER4S levels, within 1dB imo. Treble is also as present as on the ER4S, not warmer at all.
Again it's a shame about inconsistency issues, but when the Tenore is good it's the best.
Do I recall correctly that you ordered your pairs from Woodlandhills on Ebay? I just heard Idsynchrono's pair, and I need to stock up on a few pairs at least! Really a shockingly great sounding IEM (at anywhere from $200-500+, let alone the going $40-60).
