I'm sure this has been discussed, and I can see the graphs, but overall, does the treble sounds as open, neutral and non-masked as the er4s? I hear the er4s treble as very neutral with a touch of boost in the 2khz area that makes things a bit "honky" for lack of better words, just a slight bit. The 7.5khz could be a tad more prominent too for me, but overall the treble sounds open and natural. Is the tenore similar? Are there any parts that are noticeably different in openness and neutrality in the treble?

Alright, I gave another try to M6 double flanges and they indeed sound very good. Soundstage is very big and 3D. Unfortunatly they stick in ears every time I insert them a bit deep and I don't like the shallow fit I get otherwise. Fortunately I have vsd1s double flanges that are smaller  than m6's and they have a smaller bore too so they fit better on the nozzle and are working perfect for me. It's a bit weird coz I did some tip rolling once a week since I got the tenores but didn't liked that much the sound, now the sound changed so I think Tenores do benefit from burnin.

GR07 BE vs Tenore

Lows: GR07 BE has slightly better tactility in its mid bass, a smudge as displayed ~@0:00-0:11. Sub bass presence is very similar with GR07 BE maybe coming out a bit cleaner, referenced ~@0:13. I get the feeling Tenore is playing more on a open stage while the BE is closer to a confined studio. I'm having a hard time deciding which I like most :/

Mids: Tenore have more spacious vocals shown ~@0:36. and ~@2:23. Harshness has yet to be detected tho there are ways to negate it on GR07 BE. Champion, Tenore.

Highs: Tenore have better smoothness and definition on vocals, bringing them up nicely. While GR07 BE are less refined breaking off the mids, I quite like the extra sparkle presented at the beginning of this song, for example, hitting off ~@0:11. Decisions, decisions...

Both cables have a smooth outer texture that's quite pleasant. The Tenore cable is more supple and less springy then the BE. Thickness before the y-split is similar but broadens after, the BE having a thicker cable all-round. Both the Y-split and jack are beefier on the BE, giving me a greater sense of trust towards their longevity. Strain reliefs are better implemented on the BE as well.

I like the materials and fit/finish on the Tenore but its ergonomics might pose a bed problem. These aren't mine so I won't lay on my side to test it out. That said, they sit quite nicely inside my ear with the cable exiting at a perfect angle within the "cradle" as illustrated here.

The carbon fiber, I have to admit, looks very appealing. I usually prefer plainness over glamor but this is downright gorgeous. Is this real carbon fiber? Either way, I'm quite impressed. Do not Click if hatez the Anime (Click to show)

These seem to require extra juice as noted by others but maybe I'm looking for that extra sparkle and raise the volume to compensate. Reminds me of EX1000's bass problem, raise to compensate for lack of ump, proceeds to get blasted by light. Them mids tho... spectacular.

KC06 mention

Tenores being very good performers, I find KC06 give me a better sense of clarity while their low end sounds hollow in comparison. Tenores simply have better body and control down low. I no longer have the KC06's so this is going off memory. That said, I have to admit both these phones perform so well, I'm going to have a hard time recommending or/and gifting GR07's as easily as before. Truly, these are good times for the budget conscious.

Sonically, for phone number one, I would have a hard time choosing the Tenore over my BE and vise-versa. These guys do everything really well. However, KC06 Alphas may(must!) change this fact. If I could transplant the Tenore low end into the current KC06, UHD rainbows would gush out of my soul and I would be dancing amongst unicorns while sipping the finest apple juice known to man. It would be a sad day for my GR07 BE indeed.

Note: BE bass should not to be taken lightly. While some will find its quantity lacking, its quality is a force to reckon with. 😤

As for the Tenores outcome against what I would look for in phone number two... needs more basement power and upperdeck sunshine 😉

Thought the Tenore graph looked like something I'd seen before. Overlaid on the Heaven V Aging measurements on my phone so excuse the low quality attempt. Point of comparison is the raw gray line.

If this is accurate, then the Tenores have more bass than I expected from the impressions so far. A slightly flatter Heaven V with lower distortion and a few KHz more extension at the top. Sounds good.

Looking at the compensation, the HV might be a bit flatter through the lower treble as the Tenores would dip not come back up to 1k level at 3k, after that, no idea. Anyone who can take a better guess here, looking at you Inks wink.gif , please correct me if I'm wrong.

Great write up Unity, enjoyed the read.

I'll let you know if I get the experience with rainbows and unicorns and whatnot when I get the A-variants.

Yeah, that's one issue I had with the Bassos as well. Not for bedtime seduction. Also I find the way the cable sticks out from them, and the tiny cable relief, a bit odd. Not a biggie.

Too bad you didn't have the Ostrich's on hand, but I'm glad that you heard them. I throw them on my C3/BH combo, and with the BH's LF switch on (bass boost vodoo) and the SF switch on (soundstage vodoo), the birds sound pretty amazing.

But your Tenore review is cementing the fact that (a) the Tenores are worthy and possibly should be part of the arsenal, and (b) what the heck are GR07BE's? ;)

I very much agree with this. Maybe it's just that I've been pampered by the FX850s heaping helpings of bass too much but I find the Kc06's lower end to be a little thin for the most part, which is why i decided to get the A, if it is what it claims to be, a Kc06 with a deeper, bigger bass response, then I will have found my on-the-go phones. The woodies get to stay at home and look pretty.

Gracias, gracias, amigo.

Yeah, I have to be mindful of our more serious comrades. But I must be my own man! Words not forgotten my Fruend!

Where the cable exists the earpieces is cause for worry IMO. But it might be braced sufficiently inside so a waiting game would have to be played. The owner of these gems will find out I'm sure, a gracious owner indeed. 👍

The KC06 are a Excellent value IMO and as shown by others and myself, sound sig seems to triumph technicalities many a times. I have given up on amps a while back but bass boost is still a much better experience there then EQ'ing through software.

These are indeed worthy IMO. Don't go there wayne-san... I don't even...

I would say the Tenore is the more capable earphone.  Just does everything right.  But I am enjoying the heck out of the S1.  S1 seems to have the bigger sound but loses out on some of the details the Tenore's bring out.

No problem.  I just tried the Meelec. tips with the mod SGS suggested and the sound broadens.  The spiral dot tips fit without the mod.  Really digging the sound.  Might be worth the investment.
