Wanted:
WTB HD600 or HD650 Grills

Will Ship To: Anywhere

I just traded my modded DT880's for a pair of HD580's and would like to give them a facial with a pair of HD600 or 650 grills.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but you can get HD600 grills for around $45 direct from Sennheiser.

From Sennheiser USA:

HD600 grill cover = $12 each
HD650 grill cover = $42 each

shipping is around $6 flat fee

You must call up Sennheiser directly, as these parts are not listed on their website.

I called them to order an HD650 replacement cable and they said the grills were $24/each with a flat $9 shipping fee. I just figured I would see if anyone was selling here on Head-fi cheaper before spending $57 on something that was (for the most part) cosmetic. Thank you for the responses!

I've seen people stating that these were the prices before, they probably just bumped the price up due to demand. I said to the lady on the phone, "$24 each? Isn't that a bit steep?" and she replied snappily "Well, they're expensive headphones." I'm not trying to sound cheap, but it is a little high considering I could salvage my HD580 grills, cut them up and get some metal fencing, glue them, and then paint them for less than $10.

^Like the guy with the orthopedic shoes said, "I stand corrected."

Guess I bought mine at a good time then.

I hope you find them cheaper as that is way, way too pricey for just the grills.mad.gif

You sure did! I'll start looking for some metal fencing and start the DIY HD600 grills, and if I find a pair for sale, I'll pick those up too. I like a good challenge.

Well I ended up going out and getting supplies today to convert my HD580 grills to HD600-ish grills. HA! So I spent about $10 total getting the little desk basket thing for the mesh, and some super glue. I already had the wire cutters and scissors I used to cut the mesh and the sand paper. So here are the pics from beginning to (almost) end.

I had painted these before to this dark metallic grey.

I outlined the grills with a sharpie and cut them out

I ended up using some gorilla glue and super glue.

I sanded down the little elevated edge that was where you see the black line around the grill.

Now I just need to throw some black paint and some clear coat on them and they'll be perfect!
