Xbox ONE

So, I just watched the unveiling for the next generation Xbox: Xbox ONE. It's going to have 8 cores and 8 gigabytes of RAM (the 360 has 512MB). It will also be sporting a Blu-Ray player. They showcased a couple games including FIFA 14 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

They're integrating Fantasy sports as well. You can watch games and noticifications will pop up when your players perform actions that benifit you. You will be able to watch live TV and the console supports multi-tasking. So you can be watching a movie, while browsing the internet, and having a Skype video call.

As for myself I couldn't be more excited about the Xbox ONE which will be releasing this year. What do you guys think?

I felt it was quite underwhelming.

Will there be a console it will likely be the PS 4 from what they shown.

I'm a little disappointed, seems like it's more about TV and sports than video games.

I'll probably wait a few years and buy it used.

The only thing interesting was the 15 exclusive in the first year with 8 of them being new ip. I just hope it's not some dumb kinect casual crap. I wouldn't be surprise if it was though.

The XBOX One was built for casuals NOT gamers.

What the hell is with the name? Calling it Xbox 4ever would have been less silly.

I actually liked the rumored name Xbox Infinity over Xbox One. Perhaps its a play on words "Xbox Won". haha

I'm cringing at the fact that they are partnering up with EA.

The new design doesn't look too bad. Just waiting for E3 to hear the killer exclusive titles if there will be any.

I couldn't figure out what you meant by the second line.

I'm not a huge fan of the name either. They're saying they called it that because it will be getting better and better after day one.

I love the XBOX 360, I bought it shortly after launch and upgraded to the slim. I didn't even buy the ps3 until a couple years ago. The reason why I bought the PS3 was because Microsoft went away from video games and gamers to casuals and kinect.  I was hoping for gaming console not an entertainment hub that controls your tv/cable box.

It's pretty clear what direction Microsoft wants to take the XBOX..... They want that casual Wii market. Like I said, the XBOX One is built for casuals not gamers.

I hope they redeem themselves at E3 because right now this XBOX One made my Wii U purchase look really good and I don't even like the Wii U.

Biggest turn off for me is this,

Quote:
Microsoft did say that if a disc was used with a second account, that owner would be given the option to pay a fee and install the game from the disc, which would then mean that the new account would also own the game and could play it without the disc

I don't know how the used games thing is going to play out but Microsoft won't man up and give us a clear answer.

We are designing Xbox One to enable customers to trade in and resell games. We’ll have more details to share later

Kinect being with every system is a bit disconcerting. It's the sort of thing the casual audience is going to LOVE, and when an audience loves something, they throw money at it. They throw money at it, Microsoft gets the clue that that's what should be focused on.

I definitely don't see core games going away, just because it will be so easy to port games from PS4 to it, but I think there will probably be fewer core exclusives.

Oh, also, the used games and online authentication is a huge slap to the face. It's a good thing I'm a Sony fanboy through and through. tongue.gif

I don't really care about any of the new features, all I care is that Forza 5 is a launch title and that means I'll have to pick up a Xbox One to play it.

Oh snap, just read that Xbox One's OS uses 3GB of memory (PS4, by comparison, uses 1GB). That, paired with the fact that the RAM is much slower on Xbox doesn't bode well for multiplatform games.

Just thought I should post this.

What's funny is the Wii U is never in the conversation when talking about next gen.

XBOX One is a weird name, almost as weird as Wii U. If it was me I'll call it the Cablebox.

That's pretty funny. Neogaf's rating of the reveal cracks me up as well.

About half the people rated it a 1/10, and Neogaf is normally fairly balanced, as far as Xbox fan to Playstation fan ratio goes.

Even if you're a xbox fan how can you not be a bit upset? The reveal was all about watching TV and checking your fantasy team with gaming being nothing more than an afterthought.

I just hope they dedicate E3 to gamers, but I have a feeling they're just going to continue selling kinect to casuals instead.

They better offer the option for white unit's. Other than that, the gaming aspect seemed way overshadowed.

You know, even with my ragging on Xbox, I'm totally excited to see the gloves come off at E3. I do think MS will show something big to the core audience. I'd love to see a new Fable.
