[REVIEW] Aurisonics ASG-2 (Updated with ASG-2.5 and Tralucent Ref 1) - Page 284

Hi,

I have just purchased the ASG-2 Clear and using with stock cable.  I realised that there is crosstalk when playing test tracks to identify left-right channels.  I have tried another IEM on the same player with same track and there was no crosstalk, so the issue is with the ASG-2.  I have swapped out the stock ASG-2 cable and the crosstalk is gone, so the problem is the stock cable.  I brought my set back to the shop and their demo set also has the same crosstalk, and I have been advised by the shop personnel that this crosstalk is tuned by Aurisonics to be so.

Is this crosstalk normal (by Aurisonics design) or my is a defective set?

Thank you.

Hmm. I'm not quite sure what you mean by crosstalk. Could you elaborate some more?

If it means what I think it does, very odd indeed.

May be he mentions about crossfeed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossfeed).

The crossfeed as an option (from the amp) is good but if it was implemented directly to the earphones errrrrrr

Seems a bit complicated to be able to implement something like that in a small earpiece...
Hmmm

As terirapt mentioned above, the effect was disappeared when he changed the cable so either the stock cable was broken or it was a special one.

I have so much to do right now. My ex just moved and left her nail polishes. So I stole them and made a pair of ASG-2 bling edition.

Nice handicraft there! Was wanting to do that to my pair too but afraid of screwing it up haha. Btw you're pairing it with Fiio cable?

Thanks, but I got a bit sloppy and lazy when I realised that I wanted to paint the AS as well but started with the gold. Don't know yet if I'm going to keep the colour or if it's even going to stay there or it will rub away by itself. Yeah, it's a Fiio cable. Could be marginally better, the one thing I do notice is a slight increase in volume, a bit less mid bass and an overall brighter tone. But I'm not more than maybe 75% sure that I'd pick the differences out in a blind test. And if I were to hear the sound of one of the cables and say which one it was I'd be 50/50.

Hi, yes, it is something like crossfeed; when playing signal on the left channel only, I can hear it on the right channel as well (but lower volume), and vice versa. However, I am using a DX100 and there is no crossfeed function.

I have emailed Aurisonics and awaiting their confirmation if this is tuned deliberately on the ASG-2.

Hey Moon! Tell me how it goes and if it stays on! I wanted to do a little something with mine as well!

Well, if it doesn't stay on it's just to apply some more but I'll keep you posted!

Haha, nice! I did something like that to my ASG-1. If you want the color to last, just coat it with a layer of clear polish and keep adding layers once in a while.

Interesting. Have you tried the ASG-2 on another player?

Yes, I have also tried on the AK120 using the same track.. same issue.. crosstalk on the ASG-2 with stock cable.. no crosstalk on other IEMs including the 1plus2 and SE535.

Very interesting. Nice catch.

This most definitely sound like it's done on purpose if it's present on both the cables that come with the frosted and stealth. It's indeed there on my cable. I'd like to hear the rationale behind this decision actually.

Do you hear any significant difference in the sound when swapping out cables?

This could make many cable comparisons here with the stock ASG-2 cables useless...
