[REVIEW] Aurisonics ASG-2 & 2.5 (with many comparisons)
May 23, 2016 at 10:05 PM Post #6,286 of 7,014
No serial numbers on the 2 I've owned.

Sadly, asg g2 and g2.5 have dropped another notch down for me. They are now numbers 4 and 3 respectively on my favorite list. Maybe one further down. My new favorite top 5 is:

1. Tralucent Ref 1 (and Ref 1 Too)
2. Sony 800st (taped)
3. Sony Xb90ex
4. Asg g2.5
5. Asg g2

Not in order of bass, just overall as an iem in general.

The Sonys have really surprised me. Definitely amazing IEMS.
Top five on top of 2.000 other iems aint bad. For $500 you can reach top five. For $500 you are close to $1600 - $2800 Ref Too iem.:grinning:

I still don't understand the love for the Sony line.  I have tried them all and I only get average bass out of them, and the ASG treble is better.  Everyone has their opinion; but I can't make them sound great.

My Bass top 5 that I have tried:
1.  ASG 2.5
2.  64 ears U8
3.  UE11 pro
4.  Roxanne
5. ASG Harmony
6. Sony Ex1000

Top sounding IEM's
1. UE11 pro
2. Roxanne
3.  ASG 2.5
4. 64 Ears U8
5. ASG Harmony

The Creative E5 is the top bass amp by far, and the best $200 I spent.
The Onkyo X1 player is fantastic!

I love the U11 pro, I mainly use it for drumming.  I do bring it home and listen to it every once in a while.  Everything changed once I bought the Creative E5 amp.  Before the E5 everything was very similar; U8, Roxanne, UE11.  The E5 really woke up the sub on the UE11.  It was like nothing I used before were capable of turning on the sub.  With the E5 the UE11 sounds fantastic, it was good with other amps too.  You almost have to re-listen to your IEM's once you get an E5, it brings average bass IEM's up to basshead standards.  I can get better bass out of the ASG Harmony with the X1/E5 combo than the 2.5/mojo.

There wasn't a big difference between the multiple BA IEM's, they all sounded good.  The bass dial helped with the Roxanne and the treble was probably the best, the U8 was a little more bass heavy, and the UE 11 pro has a very clean reference sound.  But the E5 amp brought out the sub in the UE11 and they were custom so I kept those.

And once I bought the ASG 2.5, I decided to sell the U8 and Roxanne, and Sony's.  I couldn't see spending so much on the Roxanne, and U8 for a little better treble, and not as good bass.  I planned on getting a Roxanne custom down the road, but I think I am going to go silicone custom for the better dampening for drumming.  Spiral ears if my ear canal isn't too small, or the Custom Art Harmony.

As for every day use, the ASG 2.5 is still the king.  I can turn up the dial on the 2.5 and it sounds great unamped out of my note 4, and X1.  And paired with the E5 it has ridiculously good bass.

golfpro The Sonys are definitely up there bro. Maybe bad seal or tips. Which models did you try? The Trifecta hit pretty damn hard. I'd say the 800st hit just as hard as either of my asg's, if not harder. I prefer the 800st to everything I own sound wise, and by a fair margin, excluding my Ref 1 Too. The asg, which I love and have owned for years, isn't on the same level as the 800st or the ex1000. Asg has more bass than the 1000,but I prefer everything else on the ex1000. I even prefer the lowly Xb90ex.

Did you give them enough power? They are hungry IEMS. I still love my asg and will never sell them... Ever. I do go months at a time without listening to them though. The bass port is a great option too, although it's rarely used.

I tried all of the good ones, EX1000, 800st, 90ex, with all kinds if different amps.  I have the EX1000's for sale, the 90EX I gave away, and I sold the 800st.  With every amp and source the results were the same, I was unimpressed with the sony line.  To me the bass is average, and the treble is lacking.  I felt the same about the mojo, it sounded great but lacked bass.  I keep hearing the same stuff about the Sony line as well, needs lots of power, needs to be EQ'd like crazy, needs the perfect tips.  I don't want to buy a special amp, or EQ program, and $100 in tips, just to try to make them work.  I just plug in the 2.5's to the E5 and it sounds great, I just dial it in to my preferences and I never have to try to find more bass.

None of the Sony's came close to the 2.5's in terms of bass especially, and overall sound also.  I have the 2.5's almost completely closed as well.  I don't know if the E5 is just a perfect match for the Aurisonics line or what.  The X1/E5/2.5 with black dragon cables is an unbelievable combo.

No amount of reviews and opinions is going to change my mind.  That's why you don't see me posting in the Sony fanboy page.

No one's trying to change your mind. Just keep in mind that you may very well be literally the only person to have had such experiences with the Sony's. It's been said before that ranking IEMs in the bass department is not clear cut, like with headphones. That's why opinions from credible sources (people who have proven their worth time and time again) are gathered and the majority stands out. And the majority votes in favor of the Sony's.

Nope, bought the Sonys, fiddled with the EX800 and sold it to buy another ASG 2.5 just today.

The XB90 is a plug and play Sony but the others need too much fiddling unlike the ASG.

Current tally is 2 XB90EX, 2 ASG 2.5, 2 ASG 1.5 and one ASG-B. Powered off the Cayin C5 and the Creative E5.

I own the sony xb90ex and sold the sony xba z5, they do not compare in my opinion to the asg 2.5. I really never liked any sony iem I owned. Its not about bass in sony iems its the whole sound signature that I do not like in sony iems.

This does not mean I disagree with warrior1975 and we will end up arguing on a sony iem, or about sony which is a giant company that will not break up if I do not endorse their iems lines. I really am glad that some like the sony iems, or something would not be right. I for one will not buy a sony iem unless they come up with a new design and a new flagship that is offering something unique. My friend warrior1975 gave me the best recommendation for ref1 and I bought it and I honestly could not thank him more for this .

And my friend jmills8 recommended the asg 2.5 and I could not be more thankful for him as well, I am only selling my asg 2.5 because I have the ref1, otherwise I would never sell it.

I am a person who likes only to keep 1 iem and not more, and the one that I will keep will be the best sounding to me. So I am keeping the ref1. I have coming up an unreleased empire ears iem so if it will be better than ref1 then I will sell the ref1. When I sell something it does not mean what i sold is bad, it simply means I want 1 iem and that iem has topped my previous iem.

I am dead worried from traclucent p5 which warrior1975 will get, as if that is better than ref1, you know guys what this means, selling ref1 and buying p5. That is how it goes with me. I like to keep one iem only.

I find that iems are very personal and we all should just be happy that we find iems we like

golfpro I wasn't trying to change your mind, was just discussing it that's all. Doesn't matter to me either way if you like them or not. I just find it interesting that people have such different views of IEMS and other audio products that's all. I hear things differently. Probably similar to a discussion we'd have, and actually did have when we discussed the creative e5. You offered suggestions on how the sound may improve.

If you are referring to the Sony fan boy page being the basshead iem thread, that's an unfair statement. I know you don't care for the thread and have had disagreements with people there due to the Creative E5, but to make silly statements like that... Well, it's just silly.

I didn't need anything special for the Sony IEMS, spiral dot tips (use them for asg as well), an amp (same ones I use for the asg), and I actually keep my eq settings the same for 2 of the Sonys, both asg, and my Ref 1 Too. The only Sony iem that needs a little more eq finesse would be the Sony Ex1000.

Personally, I find the asg to be a little too dark (eq fixes that). I think all 3 of my Sonys have better treble than the asg.

Regardless, I love all the IEMS, Sony and asg, that I own. I also love my mojo, Cayin C5, and the Creative E5 (thank you for that btw).

Sound Eq Glad you are loving the Ref 1 brother...thats my precious!

As I had the 2.5 for one day, how do the 2.5 sound in comparison to Forte and Harmony with bass port half open?
Is the Harmony a lot brighter and the Forte a lot darker than 2.5?
Which one has the most forward mids?
