I'll pop in over the weekend sometime with impressions as I want to take ASG-2 in properly. I will say, I was very skeptical about this Hybrid, I really, really, disliked Aurisonics ASG-1 V1.2, it was terribly dark to these ears, so when these loaners popped up (out of no-where mind you) I wasn't expecting much at all, and in some ways I'll admit I went in with a total negative state of mind putting them on today, maybe I even wanted to hate them? However dare I say, I am slightly floored by what I'm hearing in the short amount of time I've listened.

Reminds me of my train of thought with the H-200. I found myself grudgingly enjoying track after track smily_headphones1.gif

Actually, the G-2 is about twice the price of the H-200. $250 vs. $550. Of course those of us who've had our G-1's upgraded to the tune of $300. I wish everyone who hated the G-1 could give the G-2 a shot. Really makes me wonder how much better a G-3 could be if the change from 1 to 2 was this drastic. Maybe Dale will begin work on a wholly new dynamic driver :Q______

H20: Try switching that Silver/Gold cable over to the G-2 for a nice little surprise

Idsynchrono, ASG2 550$? i thought some 700$? false? for 550$ ASG2 must be a steal IMHO

the more i listen to ASG2 the more i think again and again how personal bias affects listener. i must apologise to Eke for shooting from the hip about his comparison of ASG to RDBv2... to my surprise even v1, which is supposed to be a better IEM than v2, loses competition to ASG big way.

Yeah, it's $550 in the US. I think it may be more in other parts of the world. Depends on the distributor I suppose. I would hope not... I think it's slightly more if purchasing from Musica Acoustics for instance, but that seems to be norm for Musica. They provide very good service at least, and Dimitri is always a pleasure.

I will never sell the G-2 simply cause one day someone like Flysweep or ShotgunShane or maybe even Eke will get his grubby mitts on the new ASG-3 prototype and the hype cycle will begin anew, and I will be waiting, impatiently waiting to upgrade :l

Maybe Dale will even return back to his old idea of dual dynamics! I know one of the original prototypes for the ASG-2 features two dynamic drivers workin in tandem, ah it's fun to think smily_headphones1.gif

I thought the frost color was 450 and stealth was 550...  I could be thinking of something else though.

Out of courtesy for spkrs01, I'm not allowed to remove the cable on this pair of 1plus2, this isn't just any demo pair I have with me, these are actually the owner of Tralucents 1plus2, I will respect what he asked before the unit was sent out to me.

I hear good things though from Ginny about changing out the ASG-2 cable. Who knows? maybe one day (very soon) I'll immediately sell some gear and buy my own ASG-2, putting a cable on them myself. ph34r.gif

Original pricing was $500 for frosted I believe, but then it got bumped to $550. Stealth is $650 I think. With the new epoxy finish, if the kinks are worked out, then I think it's worth it. Looks very slick in Kewei's photo.

Ah, had no idea that those were Gavin's. Pretty cool of him to pass along his own personal pair. Muzak must be fuming, he's tryin so hard to put on a nice front wink.gif

And yeah, might be worth it to mess around with a few cables. Can't say I noticed much of a difference with the ones I have on hand, just the S/G cable was the one that made a really notable difference.

Edit: Oh yeah, you'll also want to open the bass port just a tick past closed. And I do mean to turn that screw just barely so the driver is ported. Little tip I got from VWinter. Helps the driver breathe without allowing too much midbass bloom to muck things up

I have just the cable in mind for about $60.00. SPC 6N OFHC. I'm thinking this will work a treat.

Ill speak to the owner and ask if he minds the bass-ports being adjusted, he mentioned setting them up exactly how he prefers them before sending. While I do hear a slight mid-bass bloat that could possibly be replaced with sub-bass, it's not overbearing the presentation too much so far, there is some bleed I have heard though. I also find treble more present than I expected, sounds fine to me. I think the real test will be when I put that dynamic driver inside ASG-2 to test with speed and see how the separation holds up. Most of the tracks I've tried so far have been medium paced folk, acoustic or pop. I want to test that DD with something faster. Possibly leaning towards one of the best dynamic drivers I have heard though, need a little volume to get them moving but those vocals can sing with clarity and thickness and the staging is impressive.

Regarding the 1plus2 unit I have here before anyone gets upset. There have been members in Australia waiting to hear 1plus2 for many months (over 6 months). Due to the two tour units still being very active in USA and not making it here anytime soon Gavin made an exception and sent his pair over, not only for me, but Australian members.

Arhh, my listening travel continues.

Now I auditioned a few beautiful songs on ASG-2. These songs are especially rich on vocal and percussions, plenty focus on mid bass and emotionality. Besides they allow to test mids delicate nuances and crossover (virtual one) subtleys. First is male vocal, second is vocal and percussions and strings.

I am proud to report ASG-2 did excellent job in portraying voices & percussions in African ballades. All I can ASG-2 capacity to convey voices timbre is stunning, voices have warmth and richness to them and project seamlessly in black space. Percussions work very well too, you can hear plenty of detail and not only detail but also physical body, I mean you can literally tell from the hit sound what type of percussions was touched, amazing feel and superb work here.

Now for female vocals, I put two songs which I consider very demanding on IEMs, especially Helena Segara is tough test since she has unique timbre and tiny reverbs a bit … amazing singer and amazing song. I am happy to tell that ASG-2 develops very little sibilance and handles female voices like a master keeping them rich and believable. I only wish bit more upper mids to uncover full female voice beauty and a bit more air in lows which means low bass could be improved a bit. Still I am rather spiting hairs here because overall ASG-2 delivered superb musicality and live like tonality.

here are song samples listened in this part of test:

the entire album can be found under the links i posted on youtube. great music and great test material.

and two lovely female vocals which helped me greatly in testing mids extreme and sibilance, tough for IEM but beautiful for my ears:

and now as a reward after test some cool treatment to Oriental modern tunes 4U:

enjoy the music and the day biggrin.gif

I find this intriguing. The ASG-2's came on my radar just days before they had their intro sale so I missed out on the promo pricing. As I read more about them though the more interested I became, yet I was reluctant to jump on board right away at full price because I was worried what the resale value would be like (because of the initial sale pricing) if I didn't like them. With this in mind I figured I'd try to get a taste for the Aurisonics house sound by picking up a used ASG-1.2 but they were one of the most atrocious sounding IEM's I've ever heard which put quite a damper on any enthusiasm I had for the ASG-2's.

Of course I then got my chance with the demo pair of 1plus2's which, for my preferences at least, pretty much hit the nail on the head in regards to an end game high-end IEM. That's not to say I'm not still interested in hearing and potentially owning others that are on the market though so I've been keeping an eye on this thread and hoping to get to demo a pair some time in the near future.

Elnero, ASG-2 can make a very nice back up IEM for a different tuning, but ASG-2 is very good on its own and has magic vocals to it. otherwise 1+2 is .... hm i know many will hate me for saying this ... is top of the top, you take pain one time paying it and then you can forget about upgrades. consider me biased and ask others before deciding.

i can say ASG-2 as very capable backup IEM for my 1+2 and very special for vocal music and acoustic. sometimes i really have hard time picking one but for universal IEM covering all genres 1+2 still holds the first place in my book and... not by little.ph34r.gif
