Bakoon HPA-21 headphone amplifier - Page 26

Thanks atsq. Anyway, just ordered the new NFB3 with the right cables from Audio-GD.

I am using a TEAC 501 with the Bakoon at the moment and I can't imagine anything sounding better but I am too curious to find out what a ACSS/SATRI connection and staying in the current domain would bring to the presentation. :D

Hey Zen,

You don't mean to say that Audio-GD has ACSS to SATRI cables?

I just asked Kingwa to make me one when I ordered the NFB3. $20 for a pair of short 30cm ACSS/BNC cable. ;)

LOL! Literally 10x cheaper than the one I am having made.

I think you are more likely to receive your setup before I do so do let us know how it sounds. smily_headphones1.gif

Ordered on the 28th and received today. Thanks Audio-GD. :D

Everything working perfectly, first try. Too early to judge and compare SQ with my TEAC 501 but  very enjoyable so far.

Why do you have your HP plugged into the Voltage output? Why not the Current output?

I usually use the voltage output when using iems such as Shure 846 and the current ones for orthos.

Ok, that makes sense. I can't get over how much I love this HPA-21! Coupled with my HD800, it's the best I have ever heard. And I have been at this game a very long time.

Just a smokin' combination!

My iem prefers Voltage as well.

Waiting for a detailed analysis of the difference that the SATRI Link makes! :)

I've got to say, I love my HPA-21 coupled with my TH900, but I just can't put down my LCDXC, it grows on you, and the HPA/XC combo is a marriage made in heaven.

Very interesting. As a fellow HPA-21 owner I was about to buy the TH900 but now your comment has got me thinking about the LCDXC. Please expand upon what sonic qualities differentiate the LCDXC from the TH900. Many thanks.

They actually compliment each other. The LCDXC has a warm presentation, all the rough edges smoothed over  but not lacking in the highs, the mids are where they really shine.I guess the best description would be they provide a "vinyl" listening experience from a cd.The TH900 doesn't take a back seat though, a crisp engaging experience, exceptional treble and bass. They are two very different presentations, I couldn't choose between them, and thankfully I don't need to.The LCDXC is a sturdier headphone, solid as a rock, you also have the choice of aftermarket cables.I will say that after listening to the TH900 for a period of time the LCDXC sound almost veiled,it is an adjustment, but not a sacrifice.

I am also after some TH900 after trying them briefly on my Bakoon, But Enjoying the PM-1 with it at the moment. One of the best mids I heard.
