I definitely will voice my experience after a reasonable break in period

Soned, after 3 days, still no "first" HPA-21 listening impression with AlphaDOG ? ;)

Has anyone compared the HPA-21 vs the Soloist?

For me, with my TH-900, the HPA-21 (in Current mode) takes it. Better layering in the lows, better extention at the highs, more weight at the mids. Then you have the clarity. I own a Soloist and like it a lot, but the Bakoon made the Burson sound veiled in comparison.

I agree 100% , low gain current is sublime....imaging and soundstage are compromised at high gain to a degree , but it's too early in my listening experience to state that to be a fact. This baby really takes fight with quality recordings.Feed it good food and it will reward you.Nice punchy controlled bass, enhanced mids , NO  sibilance to this point.Very detailed, but very musical. It has also taken my Lawton modified ( Denon) LA7000 into the stratosphere........ho hum :D

The HPA-01 specs are on line on the BAKOON Site

From the specification sheet I see that the 01 has the same power (1w/50ohms) and frequency range than the HPA-2 !!

--> Does this mean that besides the lack of SATRI-LINK, the HPA-01 will provide the SAME Sound Quality than the HPA-21 ?  (at least with most "not too demanding" headphone ?

--> Does It replace the HPA-21 for those who do not need SATRI-LINK ?

When I listened to them at a meet they sounded pretty similar.

I just got myself a hpa21 and I've ordered an audio gd nfb 1.32 dac. I've also ordered a special acss to satri link cable to be created in order to test the satri link input. The dac and cable won't be here until July but when it arrives I will be sure to do some testing and post my results here.

interesting. Where did you get the cable from?

It's a SPC Toxic Viper cable made by Frank from Toxic Cables. ACSS on one end and BNC on the other. One for each channel.

Toxic Cables, bugger! I can't wait a year just for a cable. :(

Anybody knows the right wiring conventions for those terminations?

Given that he will have done mine, I would expect the next one not to be much of a challenge. Two months would be a probable wait time. You may want to wait until my cable arrives and let me be the guinea pig before you take the plunge. I can forward you the email contents of my correspondence with Kingwa from audio-gd with regards to acss pin configuration.

It would be great to know the pin configuration. Thanks. I am in no hurry but definitely interested in your findings. ;)

The following is a direct quote from the email i got:

The ACSS output pins define:
Pin1, GND
Pin2, hot signal
Pin3 , cold signal.
You tell the maker about two products pins define, he should can make.
If he don't know, please inform the SATRI pins define.
