I'm clearly a latecomer to the RAM party. Absolutely love the recording quality and style of music.

Any others like it in terms of sound quality and music genre? Can really use a collection of such albums (for those days I just don't feel like rock, acoustic or classical).

Why not check out Daft Punk's back catalogue for starters? I'm not really a fan of RAM personally - just too poppy sounding compared with their early French House sound on Homework. Homework, Discovery and Alive 2007 are all well worth checking IMO. Human After All is best avoided though - generally insipid; the tracks from that are better represented on Alive.

I got my hands on Homework but the recording quality is pretty thin and harsh compared to RAM. I kinda prefer the admittedly poppy tunes which I believe was an intentional throwback to the 70/80s tunes. But it's really the thick rich detailed tunes that worked for me.

Definitely a deliberate throwback to original funk/soul + disco records of the 70s and 80s, yes - I just prefer to go back to the original thing rather than hear DP's modern take on it, which sounds a bit uninspired to me, by comparison. I guess I preferred it when Daft Punk were sampling old records rather than making them! Different strokes though eh? Homework had a real energy to it and still holds up well for me. Discovery is a lot closer to RAM in its lightness, so if you don't know that one, it could still be worth checking.

Awesome thanks let me try to get one. What about others besides DP? Came across any that sounds great, recording and music wise?

I loved it.  If you have a turntable, get the LP too.

Nice idea. In fact I do have a vinyl rig. The LP sounds better?

I thought the CD sounded very good, but so does the vinyl LP.  I have not done a direct comparison.  The LP is dead quiet though, probably one of the best pieces of vinyl in my collection.

Drool! That's it. Goes straight to the top of my want list.

I have all the CD versions and LP versions, except Alive 2007, and to my ears the LP versions are the better ones. But they are also less compressed though.

But? Less compression should be a plus! Heh.

Yes, and that was the reason I mentioned it in order not to let people mistake it with the "vinyl is better argument" ;)

It's funny to see how big this album became, I think it is a staple as a test track album now at meets. I need to re-buy the vinyl someday if I can find a good price, my previous copy had too much surface noise which I think some others ran into as well with the vinyl release.
