Which sounds better? Which has better sounding bass? Which has more bass? Which has better mids and highs? More mids and highs?  What are the major sonic differences between them?

It's been a while since I owned the 780s, but IIRC, the the 780s are pretty much mostly highs and punchy bass.  Not much between the two extremes.  The A900X are far better balanced and have a far superior midrange.  I think the soundstage is excellent on the A900X, too.  They're a bit warmer overall.  The highs probably seem quite toned down from the 780s if you were to listen to them back to back, but I think they're more natural.  The fit is kind of wonky, but they're definitely more comfortable than the 780s (all clampy and hard foam/pleather).
