Well, that's what I meant be people having different ears. I can never pull this off.

Ahh. So yet another factor to consider. Which would seal better, the worn down VSD1 or the over the ear VSD1S?

I think they have the same ergonomics, but apparently the vsd1s have the channels reversed which means they will sound their best worn over ears. I have the vsd1 and get a good seal with the stock tips worn down. Which one is best depends on your ears.

They are both meant to be worn cable down.

So it goes back to which ones suit my music tastes better. Has anyone had some time with both phones for comparison and possibly a suggestion yet?

Well, I guess they won't be too different given they use the same drivers. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for my VSD1S. I listen to a lot of the same music as you and the VSD1 is great with it but I still wonder how the VSD1S will handle it especially if the reduced bass quantity is not the only difference.

No, my vsd1s doesn't have the channels reserved, it is designed to be worn down.. If I wear over the ears like the first post, I will swap the L/R channels.

The peaks around 10-15 KHz show tendency towards sibilance, and that's what I hear.
Unfortunately the high treble of the VSD1 is quite metallic and may expose sibilance in some tracks.

The peaks get better with run in. The graphs are usually with stock tips so it is correct but there are tips which will help. Any good Head-fier must have a nice fit kit cause many manufacturers don't find the right tips for their phones. Either they don't put the effort, save that for a better model, or your ears might just not work with their choice.

Anyhow I took the grills off. Tweezer out the clips and pop out the screens. The metallic sound does come from that. That and the right tips and they were quite transparent/free of any metallic tinge to my ears and slightly clearer as well. Reversible of course put them back in good as new before I sold mine off.

Always burn in the phones long enough before any tweaking. Changes due to run in during modding just make it more difficult to pin things down. They might also be fine for you after just the burn in if the treble settles enough.

I hadn't thought of taking off the grills - good tip. Having said that....

I don't notice any sibilance or metallic-ness with mine. I am using the GR07's "blue" sized tips - not sure if that is making a difference.

Yep, the screens are for transparency and any metallic sound. Sibilance is really a different thing, mainly any peaks smoothing out or being killed with tip choice. They do go through a bright phase pretty early on, at least my pair did, but after that no sibilance. Always a little metallic tinge in the treble that never went away till I took the screens off and it went away. Some might not hear it depends on the ears or maybe if your comparing to other phones. There is the same type of screen further back behind right in front of the driver so I had no issue about dirt or anything myself.

Might have to do with the tuning. Someone should takes the screens off both the VSD1 and S to take a look. I have a feeling the second screen on the S will be different.

Somebody knows if the V-Moda bliss tips fit the GR07BE/VSD1's nozzle.

I doubt it. I think most V-Moda iems (if not all) have circa 5mm nozzles, so the bliss tips will probably be too big for the vsonic nozzles even if you put them over the lowest part of the nozzle.

I just received the VSD1S, so later today or tomorrow I should be comparing the two.
