It's not really that small.

Nah, there's nothing like that. The VC02 has 3mm microdrivers, which are probably the smallest out there and while it has a decent bass it isn't exactly fast either. Going with your logic circumaural headphone should be insanely slow and by definition all iems should be faster because they have way smaller drivers and housing and that's not true.

On the topic of speed vs material, I came up with a hypothesis while ABCing my VSD1 with MEElec M-Duo and Sony XBA-4iP.

I did like the sound signature of the VSD1, but a tad slow compared to the other two (fastest XBA-4>M-Duo>VSD1 slowest). But that's a single dynamic driver vs a quad BA and a dual dynamic (not sure if regular or micro driver).

Now I am wondering if a dual dynamic IEM like the Brainwavz R1 or JVC FXT90 (carbon micro tube?) has the speed because of the dedicated woofer driver only handling the lower frequency vs single dynamic driver that has to reproduce all frequency range. And does that mean the JVC FXT90 with its stiffer drivers be faster?

But due to limited funds and experience, I may never get to test this, and could be wrong altogether. Just a thought though.

Nah, dual dynamic drivers don't have better speed than single dynamic drivers.

When my FXT90 come in a weeks or so time I shall test this theory.

Oh, and yes they have carbon nanotubes which have been proven to be the stiffest drivers. So I'm expecting them to be quite quick, much more so than my SoundMAGIC E11 for example.

Alright. Goes to show how little I know.

Looking forward to your assessment. I may consider the FXT90 come holiday season.

Hi Lifted, may I suggest that you use am amp to drive the FXT90 for your evaluation. From my experience, it seems that the FXT90 will sound faster compared to driving direct from a clip zip and ip4, Curious to know the result with your evaluation to confirm my thoughts.

Thanks for that mate, yeah I was gonna hook it up to my iPod classic + C&C BH.

I'm expecting them to punch above Tenore. We shall see.

After doing some reading on the FXT90's, I can see why you got them - they sound quite nice and might work out pretty well for you!

Yeah mate, most of the Head-Fi experts have had that IEM. They said the FXT90 are really energetic, lively and still very defined with good 3-D imaging.

Sounds like the perfect IEM for Trance.

VSD1S can be preordered now from lendmeurears.

It's probably a good idea to also mention that the VSD1 new batch will be also a bit late and is expected next week and that people who already have it on pre-order can change it for the VSD1S if they want.

Really can we change, who said that? And should I switch my preorder for the vsd1s? I listen to trance/dub mainly.

I put a similar question to the LMUE guys, they said the VSD1 would be better for that kind of music. Most likely because of the bass drive and energy.

Actually i think ill keep the vsd1 as the vsd1s have less bass.

VSD1 has a larger soundstage and has a slightly less bass response than the VSD1 making it perfect for classical and jazz music.
