Thanks! I have searched the "perfect" IEM for quite so long so it was about time to choose!

I was always positive for the VSD1 but after the latest posts and some reviews I decided to go with the VSD1S to avoid the sibilance and to have a more prominent midrange. I hope that will serve me well in the Rock area!

An interesting fact about Penon Audio is that I paid in Euros so I avoided the bank's fees or Paypal's increased exchange rates, the total was 29€/40$ shipped.

I've also ordered a pair of Pistons for a friend of mine so I will have the chance to A/B them.

Thanks Pastapipo you have been so helpful. I hope that everything will go as expected and I will share my impressions soon enough.

hi there, anyone here can confirm me that if listen careful u can here the background static while using the VSD1/S, I'm not sure how to describe it but it sounds like the PL30 I used to have, maybe because of the high sensitivity?

I don't hear any of that, this will mainly depend on your DAP and recording of the music ie 128 vs 320 and above. If you put crap in you get crap out! You are more than likely hearing the noise floor of the player you are using, but sometimes it can be the sensitivity of the IEMs but I have money on the DAP.

thanks a lot^^. I am kind of new to the audiophile world, I wanna improve the sound quality of my iPhone 5, would an portable amp bring any improvement to the sound quality of the VSD1S on iPhone 5? Or I have to purchase a DAC. Can anyone give me some advice?biggrin.gif

Get a FiiO E11 HP Amp along with a Line-Out-Dock (LOD) cable like FiiO L3/L9. You will get answers. The cable will bypass built-in HP amp, using just Apple's DAC and signal fed to fiio amp. The amp has all the bells and whistles that you need like gain,eq,replaceable battery. The total price would be <$80-$90 max.
