I play a ton of FPS games (Mainly CS:GO CSS and BF3) and I'm going to buy the Audio Technica ATH-AD700. What do you guys think would be the better soundcard for good positional audio.

Probably the HD for competitive gaming(are you talking about the Titanium HD?)

Search CMSS-3D vs Dolby vs THX for a comparison. The mixamp has Dolby Headphone, the Titanium HD has CMSS-3D. THX is what is used on the Recon 3D and SoundBlaster Z.

Hold on.

Although SBX Surround seems like it is mostly a re-branded THX Surround, it actually isn't. Don't spread false info.

The positional cues on SBX is better than the THX, I know this because I tested the Recon 3D USB extensively before getting a Z. The best way I can describe SBX is that is a hybrid of Dolby Headphones and CMSS-3D.

Where SBX doesn't have a huge amount of reverb like DH does and also doesn't have that tin-can effect CMSS-3D does. But it doesn't have as good as a positional accuracy as CMSS-3D, but certainly not as hollow as DH.
