Hifiman Excellent Customer Service with Broken HM-601

When it comes to audio devices I personally believe, on the high end of audio, personal preference begins to have more weight than technical specifications. When I was looking for a great sounding portable audio player, I tested a number of audio players and they all sounded great. I settled on a outdated HM-601 thick model for its overall warmth and clarity with a reasonable price point due to it being the older model. A few weeks back my wife stepped on my most loved audio player and broke the LCD screen along with the glass covering it. My wife is my best friend and I could not be upset for the mistake, but I felt a deep gloom for my outdated player. I quickly emailed Hifiman support with the same story for how my player was damaged and a request to purchase a replacement screen and glass. I honestly felt like it was a long shot given the age of my player. I could easily replace it with a new player, but the HM-601 thick just fit my music tastes and a new player would be a gamble. I was surprised when Zhang Lu from Hifiman customer service informed for a small fee of $40 he could replace my damaged player with a refurbished one from the factory. Given my HM-601 thick was damaged through no fault of the company, I was amazed by the offer. Further, they mailed me the 16GB SD card I mistakenly left in my broken player when I shipped it. Great companies are just as important as the products they produce and I want to share my experience with the great customer service I received from Zhang Lu out of Hifiman.

I've always had good customer support from Hifiman. First from Ms. T and now from Zhang Lu. We might all have differing opinions about their products, but their service is really top notch. By the way, I loved my 601 when I had it. It's a great little player. Rockbox it if you get the chance.
