How'd you pull that off? Pricing mistake?

The best I did was this past Black Friday HD 650 - $340 new with $50 iTunes card, which I sold so $290 for Senn HD 650 NIB.

Almost 4 years ago, before Sennheiser's ridiculous price-fixing, from a third-party "wholesale" seller fulfilled by Amazon. I should have held onto those..

Well, I was dead-set on buying HE400's for $375

Then I saw SA5000's on sale used for $375, so I insta-bought em. Sorry wallet

I hope I made a good decision. New SA5000's go for $700 and several people say that the SA5000's are the closest cans to HD800's

confused_face(1).gifHeadroom recently sold their demo pair (like-new) for $200. As recently as last week, in fact.

God, I can't catch a break. I lost a bidding war on them for $300 and went nuts a week or so ago.

Where else can I find em for cheaper? Maybe it's not too late for me to cancel my order, even though I'm remotely pleased with it still

This was the headroom listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-MDR-SA5000-Headband-Headphones-Silver-Black-/200922510196?

I was going to pull the trigger but decided against it since I was certain I wouldn't enjoy it.

But it's not really possible to reliably find SA5000s today without just waiting for them to come up. I still couldn't imagine paying $200 for them, having heard them long ago.

I don't wanna derail this thread but what didn't you like about them? In this tier of cans I assume it's preference over performance

I bought a pair of sony mdr-1rs for £170 brand new. I think thats a pretty good deal.

Bought a pair of Sony MDRMA900's for $129 (like new - Amazon), considering they sound excellent and better than many headphones I've spent a lot more for, I would call it a deal.

Ehehe. Too bad it wasn't in the best shape, and I ended up selling it two months later.
