Fiio E09K vs E07K vs E17K for sennheiser momentum?

Thread Starter

i didn't know which section to post as it had 1 full size and 1 portable headphone amp comparison..i want to know which gives me the best overall sound quality when used with my new sennheiser momentum. if i do get the E07K/E17K does it keep charging while being used as a desktop amplifier being plugged into my laptop? then again if i am using as a desktop amplifier i dont know if the E09K is better alternative. i just dont want to buy the e07/e17 and find out it cant be charged while plugged into laptop. thanks for help in advance!

Will your laptop be the only source for music? The e09k is just an amplifier and not a dac so it won't act as an external sound card for your computer. The e07k and e17k are both dac amp combos, so they can convert digital to analog as well as amplify the sound. If the sound card in your laptop isn't that great then you may want a dac as well as an amp. Both the e07k and the e17k can be used in conjunction with the e09k which takes things to a whole new level.

I'm pretty sure both the e07k and e17k will continue to charge when connected via USB.

Just keep in mind that the momentums aren't that hard to drive so you may find that an amp isn't necessary.

I'm currently running momentum over ears out of an e10 and e12...to be honest, the e12 is probably overkill...the amp on the e10, the little dac/amp, does a wonderful job...and is usb powered so no need to charge.

OP probably decided last year a little while after he posted.  :o
