Apart from the X3's price tag, the rest seems like managable. Near-future technology can help it.

Also, I would rephrase with, nice user friendly UI. RB is not the only thing, RB is nice but if somebody can make a nice user friendl UI, I am cool with it and wouldn't complain why there is no RB.

yes, i also wanted to suggest X3, on paper X3 from Fiio looks like a giant killer, dedicated coax out, dedicated line out, tactile buttons, big display, designed lovely and great quality looks... the only question is how it sounds??? :-)

what i could not find was X3 price... Is this priceless? :-D

damn cheap by high end standards, might be worth a try ..

What happened to the firmware update mentioned for today.

Where did that story come from anyway?

FiiO calls it, a music player with audiophile features. Maybe it doesn't sound like DX100 or HM801 but what it gives for its price is kind of miracle. Also the features are just killing. I would actually buy it, but James mentioned they will come with their Reference DAP (X5) before the end of this year, I am waiting for it.

Maybe you should check it:

X5 will have 2 DACs in it like other so-called "high-end" DAPs.

FiiO products tend yo be on the warm side of things. But yeah I agree: X3 vs AK120 in terms of features is pretty impressive considering the X3 is 1/4 the price.

I checked the iriver site and no updates there for the 120, only for the 100.

Are u sure it will have 2 DAC? Because James didn't give any information related to it. He mentioned the DAC but not dual, it will be mono. He also mentioned dual microsd card slots but not built in memory. Maybe you are mistaking these 2 informations?

No dual DAC in X5.

This is what Fiio James said to me:

The battery of X5 may be 3500mAh, which bigger than the 3000mAh of X3. but the battery life may just a little longer than X3 because the PCM1792 consume far more power than WM8740 and the high quality OP will consume more power too.

The sound quality will be better than X3, in fact, dual WM8740 will be cheaper and consume less power but we believe one PCM1792 is better than dual 8740. just our opinion

Now been running for 12 hours and my ears are getting used to the sound...just getting better & better. Swedish House Mafia's 'Don't you worry child' right now and detail is incredible.

I don't doubt it. I just hope they opt for a little less dark character in their flagship.bigsmile_face.gif
