May be I should load less music in a few times, instead of loading everything at once.

Hope I can get it out of the freeze mode, as soon as the battery is exhausted.

The screen is still on, but very dark.

Maybe you should use direct file transfer instead of transferring music from itunes? My Ak120 that I purchased recently also came with 1.33 firmware and I found it have slight freezes once in awhile. I updated to the latest via iriver4 plus to 1.40 and now is smoother. Plug in your AK120 titan and you should see a file iriverplus4 and you doubleclick to install it, once it runs and detects your AK120 titan, it will prompt you to update your firmware. Then load your songs and see if it is better.

Folks who are using the 1.40 firmware, you have probably figured this out but going through the initial process of setting up line out is a one time things just leave it switched on and when you want line out then turn the volume knob slightly and the symbol appears touch it and you get the screen asking if you want line out. When done with line out simply turn the volume knob slightly touch the screen icon and your back to HP out.

This and the new text format make this now feel like I am using a $1200 player at last!

Firmware crash?

I have updated my firmware and although it is nice to not have to turn the volume up to 75 myself i dont find it all that much of an upgrade to be able to set it to 75 this way!I was hoping for some sort of better way of sorting through long lists of albums or songs like the 240 has with the side scroller!

I think the UIs of 120 & 240 are fundamentally different.

Yes! I was also hoping that we could scroll through the lists via the knob but alas it could not.....

But anyways, I just ordered a bluetooth remote for the AK120 and hope that it can make things easier and have lesser wear and tear on the buttons.

I am glad they made an effort but I do not see any change in sound so essentially they allowed us to fix the volume at 75 rather than doing it manually and they allowed us to have more than 1 line for file titles....with all due respect that strikes me as something to say something was done and i assume that will be it!A change for the better in terms of searching lists of songs or albums or other significant improvement would have been niceIf others are pleased god bless but to me it is window dressing and this comes from someone who loves my Titan!

Firstly, love the line out function. Just got to the settings where the EQ is and you will see line out, so easy.

Secondly. Absolutley love the two lines of information on albums. no more having to wait for text to scroll. Love it.

Best bit and I am waiting for others thoughts but to my ears this is a major sound improvement over 1.32 (which I have been listening to as I felt in the end it had a more organic nature than 1.37)

There is the organic there but things like soundstage in both width and depth have increased, especially in depth. Listening to a vinyl 24/96 rip of Claptons unplugged, Layla and it sounds incredible. So spacious and detailed and yet relaxed at the same time. Its stunning, truly stunning. Even more texture to the instruments.

Now on to the excellent HD tracks Stereo 24/192 KOB. Definitely more relaxed and organic but its like a huge veil has been lifted from both the 1.32 and 1.37 firmware versions. The sound of the brushes on the drums has so much more texture and clarity. Miles's trumpet even more fruity and breathy and much better placement within the soundstage.

The laconic piano has beautiful tone and the sax reedy and delicious.

The biggest thing for me is the sonic veil lifted. I did not realize it was there until hearing this. The music is so much more engrossing.

We waited a long time for this update but boy oh boy it was worth it! Stunning.

I will report tomorrow plugging it into my TU-05 ASP amp but all of these thoughts are with my Beyer T5P's plugged directly into the player.

To my ears its like getting a whole new and much improved player and now easier to use!

Hmm gonna have to test this out on my S mod ;). Strange I thought you didn't like 1.32 vs the newer version? I really liked 1.32 but after sending the S-mod in for repair the sound also changed :(. Ended up preferring 1.37 in the end. Funny how the sound had changed when changing out the chip/chips.

Coming back to my dead 120.

Thanks very much for your advice gentlemen.

The unit was left in freeze all night long, screen was on.

Re start was impossible.

This morning the battery was empty and I was able to charge the unit

en re start it.

Of course it froze again when reading the library, but I am glad that it is

out of the freeze mode. Time for the newer software and leave 1.33

Thanks again!

Welcome, do update us if you are able to load the library successfully in 1.40 firmware. I guess too many songs resulted in the OS freezing. I loaded 2k+ songs and it took quite a long while to load.

That sucks =(

updated to fw 1.40 and its better than 1.37 in a few small insignificant (to me) ways, but its still driving me nuts that it takes about 3 seconds from the time I hit "next" for it to play the next track.  Its ridiculous for such an expensive device to not get something so basic right
