Is eveyone getting the claimed 16hrs of battery life while playing 16bit flac? I am getting roughly 10hrs of play time.

I am not far off your 10 hours on 16bit flac, at best I think I get 12 hours but it also depends on which headphones I am using. If its my Etymotics or DT1350's which are not as sensitive then I have to crank the volume up quite a bit (though its so worth the loss in battery life with the ETY's!)

If I am using my Heaven S's or Victor FX500's then I get better battery life.

I rarely listen to DSD anymore as its just not as good as 24 bit on this player I feel, in fact I prefer CD rips to DSD on this player! and DSD eats into battery life and makes the player slow down.

I must say my biggest thing of late is the attitude of Astell & Kern to the 100 and 120 since the 240 came out. I have asked several times on FB for a firmware update on the 120 to address a few issues.

Before the 240 came out they would answer almost immediately anything I might ask but I guess because I did not lay out another $1000 for the 240 I am now a lesser customer in their eyes as all one see's is stuff about the 240.

I have been a staunch champion of this company but I must admit this" lets forget what we have put out previously as we promote the new one" attitude leaves a bad taste in my mouth

As of now the 240 has had as many updates in its two months of being on sale all over the world to the 120's and its not as if the 120 does not need updates! The back selection needs to be sorted and they really need a different on screen volume control.

I don't suppose AK even bother reading the lesser players threads here anymore so I doubt they will see my moan, hell they can't even be bothered to respond to me on FB so why would they here.

If by chance they do read this. I shelled out almost $1300 for a DAP less than a year ago. You may have a new one out but that is a lot of money in comparison to iPods and such. Owners of ALL your players deserve equal service Astell & Kern. After all, its us that bought your players which enabled investment in the 240!

Not all of us are interested in jumping on the latest thing you have. Some of us are happy with the sound of what we have but would like a few tweaks to make the operation of the player easier to use!

There, Rant over. Lets just say I am keeping a good eye open on the other companies now and what they are brining out!

Well said. If Iriver don't have enough resources to handle all their products, they should at least reply to their customers and ask them to wait. Ignoring emails are just bad customer service.

Is there a way to hard reset the AK120? Not factory reset.

The only way I know is either leave it on and wait until the battery drains completely or open it up and disconnect the battery.

Previous+Power for 10s.

That would be a soft reset. He is asking for a hard reset.

Depends I guess on why he is asking.  If the AK freezes then Previous+Power.  If you just want to power off and on. Use the power button :P

Sometimes when you turn the player on, while it is booting, it will suddenly stop. The orange bar will just stop moving.  Most of the time, just turning the player off and back on will solve the problem. But sometimes that will not work. It's like ALL the buttons are frozen and whatever button you press, nothing works. You cannot even turn it off. The only solution, as I mentioned above, is either leave it on and wait until the battery drains completely or open it up and disconnect the battery.

Different experiences I guess.  When my unit freezes and nothing including the power button responds... Previous+Power restarts it.

HI guys, I am thinking about getting a good mini to mini for my Ak120 + SR71B rig. I am considering the silver dragon v1 and twag v2. Does anyone know which one has better soundstage and clarity? Thanks

Soundstage would be the TWag. But the Silver Dragon would be better in terms of clarity.

And is double amping the AK bad? Is there anyway to get a line out signal?

Perse, no. But I never found maxing the volume on the AK120 to bring any benefit. If you truly want a LO signal get your unit modded into the S-mod. That way it will take it to a completely different level of audio quality.
