So what is it about APE files that the AK120 doesn't like?

Perhaps try numbering tracks for multi-disc albums with a single digit for the disk number and two-digits for the track number, such that I have 101,102...110,201,202...210, etc.?

That's a good idea 101 102 ect.  Just insane amounts of work. It means i can't pull music and change it out when i want to from my hard drive where i have almost a TB of music.  I would have to relabel every time or delete everything i have on the 120 and redo all my files.  Thats it, i can take a month or two off work...

Tony-I don't know anything about ape files, never used them.

Hopefully you won't end up having to do a lot of work.  A month or two off from work to enjoy your AK120 doesn't sound bad though!

Anyone using the AK120 usb dac function?  On my AK100 the audio falls out of sync with video.  The longer it is connected the greater the lag between video and audio.  AK120 also have this issue?  AK240 or bust for an AK usb dac that works?

Not sure whether my experience is the same as yours.

I found that for some discs, the audio is using those hi-res format (e.g. DTS HD-MASTER), and when I watch the discs using AK120 as DAC, the video and audio will be out of sync. Then I need to change the USB DAC settings (somewhere in the Windows hardware properties of the DAC, I forgot exactly where) to output the sound as 24/192, and the out of sync problem was solved.

On mine choosing 16/44, 24/44, 24/96 has no effect on it.  16/192 is an option, 24/192 is not since it has no drivers.

Of course kidding, just use the folder formate, it's about the music. Just seems a bummer to pay for a fairly good ui then not be able to ever use it. When i use the CLAS with my iPod classic i have a perfect user interface for under $250 for the unit itself. Just kind of a let down. The sound on the 120 is very accurate and detailed though so that makes up for it obviously. It also plays flac and 24 bit which is a huge benefit too.

Hi guys,

Do you guys have problem with connect AK120 as USB DAC? I connect it but no sound output. I'm using 64 bit Windows 7 and USB 2.0 port. I heard that it works on MAC and 32 bit but not for 64 bit. Could anyone help me? I sent to Iriver but nothing comes back from them...

Thank you guys.

Win7 64 and USB2 here.  It works but sometimes you need to select usb dac a few times for Windows to see it.  I believe the usb dacs on the AK100 and AK120 are software based which is likely where a lot of the problems comes from.

Hi, thank you for reply. What do you mean by "select usb dac a few times"? I tried very long already but it does not work even 1 time. I'm very sad because it has such great dac inside and I wish to use it for my computer. I don't know what to do to allow it to use for my computer.

Thanks a lot.

On the AK100 when you plug in the usb cable a menu comes up where you touch charge, usb dac or disc.  I often have to connect, select usb dac, wait to see if it works, disconnect and try again.  Once it works, Windows loads the driver and it becomes part of the playback devices list.

I'm using AK120 but after I select usb dac, it automatically connects inside, the software is installed but no sound coming out... I really don't know what to do...

"Ask me no questions I'll .........."  Amazon will have the 128 GB, $119.00 card in stock in about a week. There is some availability, pieces which have not been pre-ordered. I think we will have them in our little hands before the end of the month.

Posted in 2 other threads to make sure whoever wants one, get's a chance out of this (first?) batch.

I've actually got my hands on it from amazon. doubt mine was from the first batch either.... apparently there is like a line of people who are waiting to get theirs. The Amazon staff was also nice enough to provide a free upgrade shipping to next day shipping upon the arrival of stock. Entire process was about 3 weeks from date of order.
