There is no hiss issues at all. AK players are known to have black backgrounds. The synergy is also very good between 1Plus2 and AK120.

Thanks for your response. smily_headphones1.gif

I heard that ak120 has a hiss and mismatch problem due to high impedance output. Anyway, there is nothing to worry about. Have you ever tried rwak100? Is ak120 an upgrade over rwak100?

I owned RWA AK100 and was not impressed with it at all honestly.... The Studio V destroyed it in terms of sound quality (IMO) and at half the price or less. The AK120 is definitely on a different level above the AK100 although I can't honestly say their MSRP price is justified. The 1Plus2 is 26 ohms which should not be impacted by the AK120s 3 ohm impedance.

Actually, I find rwak100 better than dx100 in some aspects of sound quality. smily_headphones1.gif rwak100 sounds Smoother and less digital to my ears. Anyway, so I am going to purchase ak120 smily_headphones1.gif Thanks for the information.

Hmm that's quite different from the unit I had. Definitely not smoother sounding than the DX100. The unit had a definite bump in the lower treble and upper mids region which made it very aggressive and fatiguing. The DX100 could also get fatiguing itself but more so due to listening at too loud of volumes (I also wasn't a fan of the DX100 internal amp section). With the RWA unit no matter what volume I was tempted to turn the volume up even more due to the units lack of dynamics (sound is congested) and wasn't really ever satisfied with the volumes I listened at. The bass was also boosted and bloated. Really was a disappointment for me. I was skeptical on the AK120 but that was much better. There are others who have confirmed my findings on the RWA AK100 so I kinda doubt it was defective.

The 3rd ANV has even more extension to its treble yet without the fatigue I'd get on the AK100. I could listen at extremely low volumes and not be missing anything. Definitely more dynamic and airy. I'd say even more refined sounding. But the background isn't as black. Detail levels & separation still goes to the 3rd ANV.

The output impedance is a bit high for most, but I don't own any cans with an impedance lover than 32 anymore, so its dead silent all the time for me.

I use a Pico Power by Headamp. It's great. Also well under 600.

I use the AlgoRhythm Duet from Cypher Labs... pairs very well with both CIEM's and cans...

I use a shure 846 with my 120 and it is dead silent,I have never heard anything so quiet before and it really does allow one to concentrate on nothing other than the music

Even through my TU-05 and T5P's which are both very revealing there is zero hiss from the player. Same when I listen directly from the player with my ER4S or Piano Forte's.

Have you noticed any problems with shure 846's low impedance at all?

Don't forget the new 6 drivers Weston W60.
