No I don't. I've already moved the posts I meant to the AK240.

I am using the RWAK120-S sourcing a Leben 300xs as a bedside rig.

The 120-S is an absolute gem, the combination is sounding so good that I may just leave it as is, and forget about moving the Leben to my main desktop rig!

With the TH900, the sonics are sublime...............

I need a little help to a choice. With the AK120, if I wasn't interested in isolation, do you think is better to use (with or without an amplifier)  a Sennheiser HD239 or Beyerdynamic DT1350?

DT1350 way to go if you ask me. Wonderful sounding cans and quite portable. They are way better than HD239.

I'm very happy with the DT1350 with my RWAK120 - and it provides surprisingly good isolation as well.

nice rig Gavin, must be sublime, i do not want to talk down ak120 but truth to be told that Leben amp is damn special beast making music marvel your ears, its bigger brother Leben 600xs is held in high esteem by audiophile folk, so i suspect Leben does great job in your rig too biggrin.gif

Gavin, with all the hoo haa about the 240 it has got me seriously thinking about sending mine to Vinnie to get the mod, in your opinion ( which by the way I value greatly) are the sonic differences between the two?
That set up by the way looks wonderful!

The buttons on my AK120 are all rock solid.

Gintaras,

Thanks! It is sounding ridiculously good with the TH900 and better than I had anticipated actually. It was a fun purchase the Leben, as a few days stop gap, while I wait for my LL2 and 8PS Stat amps to arrive for the Stax 007 and 009 that I have sitting in my wardrobe right now.

I think I was one of the first to have an AK100, S modded, by Vinnie. It was so good that having the mod done on the 120 was a no brain-er. You cannot realize how good the RWAK120S is until you plug it into a desk top rig, with the exception of the TU-05, and that is transportable, I do not feel there is any portable amp that can fully realize the RWAK120-S true potential. For me it slogs it out with $1.5K+ Dacs.

I have answered part of your question above. In all honesty, as a portable source with amp, I find it hard to see any new Dap usurp the RWAK120-S for sonic performance. With your audiophile background, Ian, you surely know how poor a system sounds badly sourced. The S mod does not sound out of place with the Leben to my ears............

+ 1. I do find the RWAK120S sound character to be quite close to the Lumin. Only thing is 120S doesn't do native DSD and I didn't like the sound from conversion on some music files. But really no complaints on SQ from a pocketable player.

Hi all !

I know that with the AK120 you can use as an USB DAC.

But I have a question, can you do AndroidPhone -> OTG -> AK120 ?

Thank you !

And I hate you for making me spend my money :)

Hi there

this is my first post in your forum, although I have been reading avidly the posts on many interesting issues! I have recently purchased an AK120 Titan. My initial idea was to pair it with a Alo Continental v3 and some CIEM for listening my music on the go. I am currently using  a pair of Westone UM3X waiting for the delivery of a pair of Vision Ears Stage 3. I noted that no matter how I slice it and I dice it, the SQ from the AK120 is dramatically better when I use my HD600 (or 650) with or without the amp in comparison with the IEMs. Have you got any suggestions on how to improve the current setup? I initially purchased the Continental since I am a big fan of a warm (less analytic) sound (HD650+tube amp type of sound).

Any comment and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks

G.

The S mod is just sick. One day I'll have to upgrade my desktop DAC to just compete with it :(. Will get the TU-05 before I even consider upgrading the DAC.
