The Astell & Kern AK120 - Page 281

The RE-B is a custom manufactured device of my imagination, through a typo I have invented the newest DAP, one that hosts multiple DAC's for each gain signal specifically made for CIEM's with multiple drivers.... the RE-B will cost no less than $3,000 when it hits the market later in the year 'is that even possible?'....  a time when we no longer use numbers to quantify time.

... oh yeah, each EQ signal is also driven by its own amp as well as the latest DAC... and the device can still fit in your pocket but it needs a specia multiple pin socket to carry the signal 2x for each gain, each grounded,  meaning CIEM's and the new multi driver planar magnetic headphones I've just invented would need to be wired to connect to each DAC/AMP EQ signal output by the device.

.lol.

I'm an M9 owner.

For me a camera is as good as the picture you can take with it. I've been shooting with Leica M film cameras for 30 years, so I can get my shot without thinking about the equipment with the M9. At my age I'll never be as fluid with the 5D.

This statement applies to me too.

The problem with high end items like M9 or AK120 is that technical progress is fast.  Product cycles of 1-2 years makes one wonder why one paid so much for something "obsolete". I got the M9 because I had all the lenses already - so it was cheaper than to get a full frame SLR+lenses. I expect that in a few years SLRs will be a small niche market but I will still use my M9.

I am very happy with the AK120 hardware but the firmware needs significant improvement. Updating

Hello,

i'm new in this forum.

i have an AK120 and was wondering if i can use the sector adapteur of Iphone 4 or IPAD 2 which is 12W to charge my AK120.

because since i tried, when the battery is in charge after even 7 hours, it show on the screen to be continuous charging without being full.

Could you advise me on what to do ? my AK120 is new, bought from USA.

If you are checking the charge with it still plugged in to the charger it will not show the correct charge. You must disconnect the charger and restart the AK. Then check the battery level.

when i charge for the first time on sector, with the AK120 off, when the battery was full, it was written on the screen : Fully charged.

But after that, each of time i charge (with the AK120 off), even when it is full, its still continue to show on the screen : battery charging, even after 7 hours.

is something anormal ?

I contacted A&K USA about this last week. The answer is yes you can use the chargers you mention. I have been using my iPad1 charger and it takes almost as long as charging from my laptop I have found, perhaps a little quicker but not much.

I notice that with it plugged into my iPad charger I do get the orange fully charged symbol appear when fully charged.

thank so much for your reply

My second concern is to know why when i use that charger, with the AK120 off, to charge the AK120, even after many hours (7) it still show on the screen : battery chargING.

I found with one charge I did when the battery ran out it took almost 8 hours to charge via the iPad charger, its not much faster than the USB Laptop charge I find. I can confirm that it does show charged though when it has a full charge and is still connected to the iPad charger.

Mine (almost) always shows "Fully Charged" while it's on the charger.....even if the battery was in the red zone before I plugged it up. Some times it switches from "Charging" to " Fully Charged" for hours and hours while it's charging.

I just wait till it's in the red zone, then plug it up, wait 6-8 hours, or go to bed, then it's always fully charged up no matter what the message says....or not.

I think, i use to disconnect before it reach the level of fully charge. i use to disconnect after 6 hours. now i will wait 8hours and see

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it! As to the M9. For me, it and the lenses are worth every penny. The body is hand built, your buying into photographic history, exceptional build quality and a history of being able to service and have repaired second to none.

Most people I know who own Leica own them for those reasons and yes, pay a little more for the privilege! To us (I am a Leica owner, X1 & D-Lux5) the cost is well worth it!

Yes, I know the D-Lux5 is a Panasonic but I also know it's design is very slightly different and I prefer those differences when it comes to image style. The Panasonic was not even an option for me and I have never regretted for one moment the extra cost as it is easily absorbed by the slight technical difference plus the extended warranty.

Sorry we talked DSLR, not digital compacts which i would not even consider because makes no sense have Leica digital when same lens found on Panasonic ... Leica is mostly about past days glory and superb optics. However Canon primes and Nikon zooms can deliver far superior images in terms of IQ per pixel.

That's not to say Leica is bad but for me mostly not worth vs. what i want. If i feel snobbish i would take medium format to which even no full frame compares, but hey... I am not pro selling photos wink.gif
