The dff file definitely. Sounded much more dynamic and spacious.

For some reason I became unsubscribed to this thread. It was just about the time 1.32 got released.

What is the consensus about it's SQ? I'm still on 1.00. Everyone happy with this new FW?

The AK120 gets extremely hot playing dsd especially in a hot summer day like today.. I think it's best to not use the case because the heat is dissipation is very poor. The temperature is quite risky for electronics component lifetime, especially if they use cheap components.

I was in the 1.00 camp over 1.21 but can say I did not miss 1.00 with 1.30/1.32 now. They still sound different but I find it okay for me. And since we get an unofficial 1.00 hex now you can just go back if you don't like 1.32. Cheers!

For anybody who hasn't seen this yet, you can download DSD and other high resolution test tracks here.  Very good for comparing:

The username and password for download are both 2L

I got a carrying case for AK120 today.
It's easy to use and is convenient.
This is a product of Japanese bag brand VanNuys.

1.32 is significantly better than 1.00 IMO. More neutral, less warm.

Takoyaki-san, thank you very much for your help today. I did not get a chance to go to Shibuya to order mine today but I will go tomorrow since they're open for one more day. I'm very keen on this case and you're very lucky to get to pick one up off the shelf!!

This padded case fits the AK120 perfectly including the leather sheath. Padded Neoprene wetsuit material. Zipper closure allows headset cord to be plugged in even when zipped closed.

If you guys need a good proxy to buy stuff in Japan for you like the van nuys case, feel free to contact my buddy in Japan.....cheapest around and he's been running a buying service for years.  Just let them know sensui sent you and he'll take care of you:

I'd probably need him to pick me up one of these cases too when I finally pull the trigger on the ak120.  Still waiting for the DX50 to make my decision (unless it doesn't come out in the next 2 months then I'll prob go ahead with the ak120, sounds too good for such a portable device from valuable/respected members' impressions here.

The new firmware 1.32 is excellent , SQ like fw 1.00 with better clarity and fuller sound .
You can try it , you won't get regrets
If you want go back to fw 1.00 Memoille has the fw
I believe you never go back like me and Memoille biggrin.gif

Have been reading this thread for a month now.

Thanks for all valuable information. I got my AK120 a week now, and would like to return the favor and contribute here.

Regarding Album Art (I did a lot of test, and here are the finding)

- AIFF, Album Art NO

- WAV, Album Art NO

- FLAC, Album Art YES (both .png & .jpg tag show up fine)

- ALAC (m4a) Album Art YES (both .png & .jpg tag show up fine)

- mp3 Album Art YES (But, you have to tag .jpg file, .png file will not show)

So, in conclusion, if you need to tag your album art, then it is best to use .jpg for all compatibilies. If you have album that are tagged with .png then go back and retag if you have time, otherwise, it is fine if you use .FLAC or ALAC (.m4a)

If someone can have AIFF album art to show correctly on AK120, I would like to know. I search this forum and found no answer.

Thanks All.... Wonderful little machine... I love it....
