There is no comparison in regards to sound quality - RWAK's are a BIG leap in performance from top to bottom!

Vinnie,

Any idea what the dual 8741's will do the battery run time....how much more juice to they use vs. stock?

You loose a little because of the extra dac, but it ends up being close to a wash due to not driving the low impedance of headphones in the

case of an RWAK100-S or upcoming RWAK120-S.

With the RWAK100-S, I was able to get over 8-hours of play time with only 24/192k albums on repeat.  16/44.1 gets even better play time (less processing

power required).

For fun, I made a battery that has 150% the capacity of the stock one, but it doesn't fit in there unless you don't install the back cover. rolleyes.gif

If someone can machine a new, deeper back cover, we can probably get a better that has 200% the capacity in there - or things like a high quality stereo potentiometer,

more powerful amp stage, etc.  One day if I have the time, I'll look into it....

If you send Cookie an email at support@bluecoastrecords.com, I'm sure she will take care of it.  Tell her you heard about the 2 for 1 offer here.

Does the RWAK100-S perform better than the stock AK-120? I notice that cost for both are comparable with the RWAK100-S player slightly less expensive.

Switching to 1.32, I actually got even longer gaps while playing gapless 96/24, in the range of one full second. Ugh.

Anybody else noticed that?

Nope, works fine for my 24/96 and 24/192 FLAC files.

Seems to be working for me with FLAC 24/96 files (in this case Rush's Clockwork Angels from HDTracks).  I had issues with early FW versions but it's been fine since 1.21.  By any chance did the gapless option turn off after the upgrade?

Yes lol. When you upgrade the firmware you have to re-enable gapless. We've discussed this earlier on in the thread :P. Go to EQ and under EQ enable gapless....

What a fool, me. Thanks guys, obviously it was just a problem of reactivating it after FW upgrade.

I'm glad that's all it was!

Was just going through the AK120s box. Their logo reminds me of the mudvayne logo :P.

On a side note I also forgot to re-enable gapless :P. I had a WTF moment as well with the tracks not being seamless.... rolleyes.gif

Lol - seems easy to do!

The latest firmware is such a big improvement. I personally think it sounds even better than version 1.0.

Here is a question I have, since AK120 converts DSD to PCM is there really a point in using DSD files on Ak120? I mean sure it does save time for those who have an archive of DSD and do not want to convert it but for those who have no DSD files is there any sonic quality improvement in using DSD instead of 24/129 flacs files?

Well, there's an alternative or native DSD decoding if you really don't mind the bulk.

First of all, pick your little Windows 7 / Windows 8 machine such as Fujitsu F-07c ($200 from Amazon) or UMID M2 etc.

FYI - USB host cable / adapter for Fujitsu F-07c

Connect that to Concero HP with ESS9018-2M Sabre DAC for CA$850

Other than that, you might also consider stuff like SDTrans384 or Korg MR-1 / MR-2 / DS-DAC-10 etc.

At some point something called "iTF-DSD" should enable DSD streaming from iOS devices so that could be another option

Audioenbi didn't you answer your own question with your friends rips of 24/88 vs the actual direct rip from iso and conversion to DSD (no loss in quality at all).
