I do not think that will be a big difference between flac and dsd with the transformation in pcm, even on a portable player. To a large extent, a marketing ploy iriver.
Just as a rule, DSD - more quality musical material than homemade rips flac.
I just convenient to throw their music in dsd format for ak120 or look similar to music in flac

Wladrus,

I have installed dual WM8741 d/a converters (with minimal phase digital filter setting( in the AK120 - it sounds SWEET!!!!   Perhaps now that WM8741s can be installed, Listrid

would work on the firmware so we can play DSD direct to the WM8741?  wink.gif  cool.gif

Hi Wladrus,

Sounds good - thank you.  If he needs a WM8741 modded AK120, I can help the cause because native DSD would be great!

The 846 would be larger than 535 was.

See if your ear could accomodate the size, that, is the only potential problem I see with multi-drivers iems.

I had the SE846 for 5 days...getting them back on the 26th, before buying my own pair when they are launched, and they are not really that much bigger than SE535

Hi Vinnie,

Is the internal amp bypassed? I'm sure it will sound awesome like my meier stagedac (also dual 8471), but I hope it will still be truly portable and still have decent battery life.

Cheers!

Internal amp will be bypassed for the RWAK120-S (dual 8741, min. phase filter).  For RWAK120, the internal amp will remain, but the output stage FETs will be hard-wired to the 1/8" headphone jack (bypassing the 3.3 ohm resistors and the circuit board traces and connector, to give a cleaner, direct connection).  Some other stuff too, for both of them.  Should be ready in about 2 weeks. bigsmile_face.gif

Vinnie,

How do your RWAK's sound compare to your iMod's in general terms? Significant improvement?

Vinnie,

Any idea what the dual 8741's will do the battery run time....how much more juice to they use vs. stock?

Really showcases how good DSD can sound...................wink_face.gif

I also downloaded Mahler Symphony No. 1. At first I thought this was a really quiet recording (Listening with Fostex TH900), so I cranked the volume up to 72. Then some timpany kicked in and almost blew my ears of! Wow! This recording has insane dynamics! Particulary the last piece is fantastic to listen to. Almost brings adrenaline in my veins in the most intense parts.

I will sure buy No. 2 as well, but I'm hoping to get it for free through the campaign they're having. (Had to mail them.)

Anyways, thanks for a great tip! Appreciated!

Did somebody post the promo codes for the two for one and 20% off on the Mahler?

thanks,

Sam
