I found that the AK120 is quite good for W1000X as well.  The somewhat unique feature of the W1000X is the tube like signature that it got, which is very nice but after a while get a bit too much.   The AK120 is able to calm the headphones down to a managable level and tune the colouration back a bit, which is more or less the same effect it has with the CKW1000ANV.

So far I am very impressed with the way the AK120 is able to drive low impedence headphones such as the ATH-W10VTG, ATH-W1000x and ATH-W100.  The only headphones that I don't really like with it is the ATH-ESW11LTD, which I perfer to be driven with Z-1070 and P51.

Just curious, what did you find was lacking with the ESW11?

Just curious what is the bluetooth for? Can it connect to smartphone and stream audio from phone to the player?

Nope, you can stream music from the AK120 to other devices, such as loudspeakers, autoradios or BT enabled media players. So far I tried it in my car and at home pushing music to my Marantz M-CR603 player and it worked flawlessly.

Does the ak120 use apt-x? The dx100 doesn't unfortunately so I need to use a cable to my foxl BT speaker (with foxlo sub). My samsung s3 uses apt-x and the quality is as good as using a cable but allows me to control remotely. If so, I'm considering the ak120 seriously as it sounds like a great device.

Sorry wallet.....

AK120 and FitEar.........AWESOME

Spkrs, is that a Pelican case you're using? If so, can you tell me which model # it is? It looks to be the perfect size.

On go solution would either be dx100 + CIEMs or IPC rockboxed with 1+2 or JH16;)

Rockboxed IPC + 1+2 is my favourite actually;)  Best UI, small size, longest battery and one of the best sound (maybe THE best) I have ever heard. But this requires some serious EQ setting. wink.gif

and sorry about the ak120 ;P

Tupac, my current mobile setup is an IPC Rockboxed+RSA Intruder+JH13 and I'm very happy with it. However, with the RSA I'm limited to 16bit and I'm considering adding an AK120 to experiment with mobile 24bit audio.

Before I do, would you be willing to share your Rockbox EQ settings? I want to experiment a little more with my current 16bit rig before I take the plunge.

As far as I know no, it doesn't support apt-x, nor I know if it would be possible to support it just with a firmware update.

Anyone use the AK120 with UERMs? How is the sound with them?

Okay, it should be coming overnight.......scaryeek.gif.  Just as long as i intercept it at the door i'm okay.wink_face.gif   Hope it really trumps the HM801.

I'm sure all you AK120 owners out there know this already but I just found that when playing a track with only the album art showing, you can swipe the screen for the next/previous track. I couldn't see mention of this in the manual.
Really enjoying this device. I still can't get over how small and well-formed it is, and I can operate it without taking it out of my pocket (that was a pain with the DX100).

Be warned, you may now get funny stares in public, fiddling around in your pocket all the time  biggrin.gif
