The Astell & Kern AK120 - Page 106

Would appreciate anyone enlightening me on what the bluetooth function of the AK120 is used for.

I tried pairing it with iPhone5 and did not seem to work.

Thanks for any advice on this.

did they ever have a good reputation?... you should never take a punters money by stealth, it's just not cricket.

I may of had a bust up with Custom-Cables in the past over a pre-order headphone (thank Sennheiser & Apple for that) but their Customer Service is impeccable.

+1 haven't tried it at all yet, can't see a need for it yet, aparty from linking it to the car, however that would mean no phone connected whilst I'm driving.

I've only purchased two items from Audio Affair. My AK120 and IE800's. But they were good to their word and seemed to be decent guys. I'd keep calling unti you get a straight answer. Also give the online chat client on their site a go. That's how I communicated with them during my own order.

I didn't know it has the A2DP protocol for streaming audio. I thought I read somewhere that it's used to pair with your cell phone so it'll alert you when you get a phone call.

This is correct. When the AK120 is paired with your phone (also applies to the AK100), you'll be notified on your AK120 through your headphones/IEMs that a call is inbound.

I use it all the time.  It pairs with your cellphone so when there is incoming call, your music in AK120 stops it plays a ringtone.  There were times where I'm listing to my Etys while looking like a complete tool when my phone ringing loudly on the streets that I only realize when people start to give me this weird look....confused_face.gif

this feature in AK100/AK120 prevents such scenarios!

Fw 1.00 :
High : slightly less detail compare to fw 1.21
Mid : more body and forward and slightly less clarity compare 1.21
Bass : has better low bass but a bit slower compare fw 1.21
Soundstage : is slightly narrow but better depth compare fw 1.21

Fw 1.21 :
High : slightly better detail and clarity
Mid : is not so forward but less body compare to fw 1.00
Bass : better detail and faster and cleaner compare to fw 1.00
Soundstage : wider than fw 1.00

For direct. Dap Ak 120 is better use fw 1.00
For dap AK 120 + Amp is better use fw 1.21

This is IMO

Thanks Rudi.  This is exactly how I hear it too.  PM me 1.00 hex file if you have one!
