 Thanks kkcc,

I believe at full volume it should actually be a true line level output however. This was supposed to be the case with the AK100 if I remember correctly. can anyone confirm the same is true for the AK120?

For ak100, I thought we need to wait for mod to get true LO?

Ditto this comment!

If any AK120/100 owner is brave enough to peek under the hood, snap a few pix with their iPhone, and post 'em in this thread ... well, thx in advance for the legwork ;)

Oh ... BTW ... don't forget to photograph BOTH sides of the circuit board.

Thx again!

I think from Mezzo mod Thailand has already posted the internal AK 120 :

Does anyone have problems on auto scanning after the update? Mine ak120 gets stuck on the internal memory but it works fine on the SD cards....

Cool, but in order to conduct any useful "engineering analysis" we need properly-lit and focused macro photography, preferably in multiple sections, and (as I noted before) on BOTH sides of the board. Also, that daughter board needs to be lifted to reveal the covered section of main board underneath.

Come on folks ... take that cover off, focus your iPhones, and snap ;)

HINT: Here's example of GOOD internal photography:

Also, if you don't want to use a tradit camera, you can use a FLATBED scanner--in fact, this method will often produce much better results.

You're not likely to have much luck asking users on here to crack open their brand new *cough 'slightly overpriced' cough* units. You'll probably have more luck speaking to the guy from Thailand who did the Mezo mod for the AK100 as he has already cracked his AK120 open..

Have been listening to the 1.21 software now all weekend, have put in around 10 hours in total and my ears are adjusting to the sound. Listening to Rudimental right now and sound is pretty good. Bass through my 7100's is deep and not as weak as first thought. It's acceptable, however I will try and go back to 1.0 again to compare when it's posted up.

I had loads of problems with autoscan on both firmware using either internal, external (32 or 64) cards. I copied all the album folders with aiff/mp4a files from iTunes folder. No matter how I tried to spilt the data it would get stuck. So I have been doing chunks of albums, switching on and scanning to see if can find the faulty file. Have got 95% on there now and have a chunk of 10 directories left that when scan it freezes.

So now I will repeat process for last 10 directories to see which file causing it to hang. I have looked throughy them all appear healthy mp4a!!

A long process but feels nice to get all music over finally!!!

How hard is this device to get into? For Apple and similar "idevices", there is $10 kit you can get to easily pry open w/o any damage to unit.

It's important to be able to get into one of these units according to Bear Grylls and Survivor man and all those "reality" shows". Reason: you may need the battery inside to, say, start a fire if there is some sort of "emergency" ;)

Well you've got me there. It looks like it might actually be in my best interest to crack mine open after all biggrin.gif
