So up until today I have been using a USB microphone (Logitech Desktop USB). Today I got a couple 1/8th inch jack microphones (Logitech 600 and Zalman Zm-Mic1) so I can use my soundcard software to modulate my voice (USB cannot do this).

However, I noted that when plugging the microphones directly into the soundcard in give me TONS of static when I "listen to device" to hear my voice. Plugging the microphone into the front panel jack gets rid of this static. What could this be?
