Only on a completely silent background, is the hiss is audible on my Westone UM3x and Ultrasone Sig Pro.

What is everyone being told about how long of a wait we should be expecting to receive our m8s? I placed my order last week, and saw noting on the website stating they are not even being produced right now? I received an email from Michael saying quarter 1 of 2014 and they are waiting for a new production run.

In case ... may I point that I have a M8-LX for Sale, and therefore IMMEDIATLY available :-)

And I wouldn't say it is even necessary, depending on how sensitive your IEMs are.  Though I was one of the people who was commenting about hearing the noise floor, it really isn't that bad, especially once music is playing.  I also have a noisier amp that I added to my stack for fun, so the M8 sounds super quiet by comparison now :)

Thanks for this response on the IEM mod!

I tried my M8 w/ my JH Audio JH-13 Freqphase - and didn't have an issue.

hope that doesn't sound strange!

Thanks, I'm looking for the regular m8 with the mini jack if anyone has one for sale. Don't have until March or April to start using these hd 700s. Lol
Does anyone have experience with this combo of headphones/ amp/dac?

If it has half the synergy that I get with the HD650s, you should be more then pleased.  I was planning on building myself a Bottlehead Crack, but the M8 has put that project in doubt...

Just a little bit of a language barrier Rudi, I was making a point that the HD650s have amazing synergy.  So I would expect the HD700 to also do quite well.

I am also willing to bet that your vintage HD580s would also sound quite good...

Hang onto those HD580's!  They are a great headphone.  I bought a used pair with the 600 grills and 650 cable installed.  I doubt that changed the sound.  They were my first High end headphone (well, after a pair of Grado 125's).  I sold them, eventually bought and sold a pair of HD650's, and will eventually buy and keep a pair of HD600's or HD650's.  I'd get the 580's again, but they are not readily available any more.  The 580/600/650's are wonderful headphones!

I had the HD650's for a while with my HIFI-M8 - an outstanding pairing.  The HD580's should be equally outstanding.

cheers to the M8 again!

Been doin' alot of listening on bigger rigs lately w/ my LCD-X's, like this INSANE PAIRING:

but recently plugged the X's back into my M8 to see how it stands up.

and I don't regret a single word I wrote about it for Part-Time Audiophile!

Link HERE for anybody interested

The M8 is such an outstanding musical performer, it's like taking a desktop rig with you!!
