Centrance Hifi-M8 and Hifi-M8 LX (8 versions!) impressions thread - Page 43

I've done some tests with XP18000 the last few days,

The xp18000 will charge the M8 for about 3 times under these conditions:

Using 9-12v output (10.5v actual output)

Charge when battery light at the back starts flashing

M8 was not turn on to charge the Ipod, But I did use the USB output on XP18000 to charge my ipod classic at the same time.

It will take take 4 hours to fully charge the M8.

EDIT: yes the dimensions on the M8 web page are accurate:

Unit Dimensions:

127 mm (L) x 82 mm (W) x 33 mm (H)

Thanks for that.  I believe the 1050 case should work too then.  Of course, minus the extra swag...

BIG thanks!

I'm using a Pelican case for my ALO Studio Six (it just so happens

the one I got w/ my CEntrance Audiophile Desktop System works

PERFECTLY).  I even dropped Ken Ball at ALO this picture and suggested

they use it for Meets (as I have a few times now):

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Being OCD has its advantages

but now I can have a Pelican case for my HD800s too!  SWEET

It's also PERFECT timing as I've been listening to my HD800s and the HiFi-M8 alot lately

Mike, are you using the Pelican 1300 for your HD800's?

Nice.  I might get the smallest size I can with pluck foam so I can keep things from moving around.

Also, for those considering the Pelican 1300, I recommend picking up a couple sheets of $0.99 craft foam to cover the walls.  The 1300 is a snugger fit for the HD800 with the minimum pluck foam around it than I wanted so I lined the walls with some 2mm craft foam and am using pluck foam as a resting frame.  It curls in naturally due to the foam and holds the cups just right.   Less tension on the headband, still held perfectly snuggly when closed.

Normal pluck foam position (with one piece of craft foam still in there):

Added craft foam:

New position on top of pluck foam:

I suppose I could use the layers of pluck foam to fill in the gaps for even more security, but since the bottom foam and the eggcrate in the lid hold them securely, I didn't think that I needed it.

And now back on topic!  I plan to do the same for my M8 and other accouterments.

I am not mike.. but I have been using a 1300 for my HD800. I find it a snug, but acceptable fit for the HD800 and HiFi-M8, but not the power supply. My configuration is that the top layer of provided foam has been removed except for the perimeter, and the lower layer has space removed for just the ear pieces to drop down and the HiFi-M8 in the middle.  I expect everything would fit in if I switched to thinner foam, but I think it would be worth considering a slightly larger case.

NICE find

now where are people buying the additional foam they're talkin' about here????

The foam should come with the Pelican case.  You can buy extra's

ThanX brotha!

NICE

I'm psyched to have my HD800s road-rugged!! Been using this Technics drawstring bag
for them (in a bag of course) but its kept me from traveling with them on a few occasions!

I love the Audeze roadcase for my LCD3s.
That's what I brought w/ me last weekend:

Audeze LCD3s
Mr. Speakers Mad Dogs
HiFi-M8

was fantastic only needing one component for my MacBook & iDevices!!
Of course I've had that before, but no other battery-driven amp/DAC combo
has the dynamic headroom of the M8, that I've experienced thus far...

That includes my beloved PHA-1.

and on the desk (where it is this second - blastin') it's killer too.
I am now a confessed HiFi-M8 fanboy, in case my review
didn't already say that!!  :L3000:

yeah there's always somethin' new around the corner isn't there!!

But I found a nice pairing w/ the HiFi-M8 that I didn't expect this afternoon:
My Pioneer SE-A1000 - workin' on which impedance position I like the most..

I found that with my LCD3's I preferred the 11 position, as the immediacy and transient attack
came forward instantly.  And thus far that's been the only headphone (aside of the HD800, slightly)
where the sonic difference is not somethin' you have to sit there and think about

I would love to hear the M8 with the HD800's and the Silver Widow balanced cables....

HMMMMMM

that would be ILL

I pulled an all-nighter listening to my HD800's and the HiFi-M8 via the Cardas Clear.
I was in sonic heaven.
