It should be the same with the iPhone 5 and iPad mini.

Good news.

Do you have any way of confirming the bitrate be it 16/44 up to 24/96 bitrate coming out (native) of the iPad into the M8?

I think we'd all agree that no 24/96 is possible yet in the M8 until the CEntrance elves deliver another dash patch of magik potion.....

When I get my M8 (pre-ordered in February), I will check 24/96k out through both the MFi connection and the USB connection to an iPad, with powered USB hub and CCK if necessary.  I can get an iPad to send 24/96k audio through either the HRT microStreamer or the Fiio E17 with the CCK, using a Seagate app designed for the Wireless Plus as the audio player.  I am curious to see if the M8 trips the "too much power" message on the iPad, though.

I'm PSYCHED to share that I finished my review of the HiFi-M8 for Part-Time Audiophile,

and it's supposed to be published tomorrow morning!

Of course we sent it to Michael Goodman to check for technical correctness (as

I always do with component reviews) and his response MADE MY DAY:

I'm done reading. What a fabulous piece!

Michael is correct on all technical points and hits the nail on the head on the emotional level. This is not a drab review from and old-line paper publication. This is youthful energy. This is passion,  Mercer-style.

Thanks, Michael!

and, I didn't need any technical corrections!  Whew hooh!

Be on the look-out for the review this weekend fellas!
I poured my heart and soul into this piece, as the HiFi-M8 has truly inspired me!!!!

Will post link to review ASAP!!

got it back in the case and heading out to listen to my HiFi-M8 while on another hike!!

Thanks guys.

I really appreciate the support!

I really went for it on this one, because the HiFi-M8 has inspired me.

At first when I started writing, I had these awful old school audio writing thoughts creep into my head like:

Am I gushing too much over this product?  Etc...

and that's straight-up old paradigm BS.

I love the component, how it connects me to the music, and I didn't care how much I gushed!

I sincerely hope you guys dig it.

I thought of this community, and particularly these threads (the HiFi-M8 Thread and Impressions)

alot while I was penning the review.

Link should be up TOMORROW!!

Looking forward to it. It is a really fine device. It is kinda hard not to gush.

Ah!

Glad you saw that response about my struggle with that.

What serious BULLS__T though - when some audio reviewers are writing a review of something they clearly love,

and you can tell they sometimes pepper in some negative comments because, God for bid, you get genuine

and vulnerable...  and let the listener/reader into the trip with you!

That's a challenge I cherish: Trying to take the reader on my journey, or at least give them a close enough guilt

so they experience a piece of what I went through reviewing the piece!

and, its only hours from now where the M8 review will drop.

Again I sincerely hope it speaks to you guys

Can't leave M8 from my hands all the weekend :D

Well, I'm still up cuz I'm hoping on a plane to LA in a couple hours!!

and I just checked Part-Time Audiophile,

they got the review up already!!

They're on the East Coast

I'm PUMPED to share this with you guys, as I said before - I poured

my heart and soul into this:

CEntrance HiFi-M8: An Evolution in Portable Fidelity

I can't get enough of it, and it's coming with me on the plane!

That and my Mad Dogs.

Yours in Sound,

Michael Mercer

I'm on the waiting list since last year for the M8 (iDevice version).

- Do we know if the M8 that are shipping now have the firmware that will support the 24/96 upgrade when the patch will be available ?

- Also, has someone tested it with a TH900 ? Is the synergy good with the Fostex ?

thanks

I tried the M8 with my fitear parterre in mook festival. At that time , the M8 not impress me at all. However, when received the M8, I tried my HD800 with M8, it completely wow me. Everything seem like going the way I want. I feel the M8 even better than my dac mini when I pair with my hd800. the treb switch really useful. it make my hd800's treble even more sparkle without any sibilance. The mid range is smoother than my dac mini, make my hd800 sound more relax and better in playing vocal. It's really the most impressive amp/dac idevice I've ever heard.
