Thanks for sharing. I find the 2 ohm sound best with Th900 and 1p2 due to a "richer" mid. Still got to do more testing..

I have the Hifi-M8 LX. It does not have iDevice support.

EDIT:

LX version: Optical in / Usb in (support computers and some android phones)

Standard Hifi-M8 version:  iDevice support / USB in (support computers / some android phones)_?

This is the iDevice version

This is the LX version, which replaced iDevice input with Optical in (SPDIF)

So in conclusion, for those of you that are considering which version of the M8 to pick, know that if you intend on using your M8 with your Android smartphone, it is NOT a perfect M8ting!

I am on the same path as you. I gave up audiophile andriod (remember bitchin abt it here). I went back to Ipod. Simple interface, works all the time & sound great with M8.

I would love to get a high capacity ipod classic again, but ogddamn, how many versions of the same f-ing album can I have!mad.gif

flac, lossless apples, wav.

original cd, remastered, hd tracks...

seems like I stopped discovering new music some time ago, and I'm stuck buying the same albums in different versions, and then converting them to some other format!wtf!

Centrance Hifi-M8 and Hifi-M8 LX (8 versions!) incoming impressions and appr...

What problems did you face when using Android?

at this point in time, the only way to use your M8 with android is with usb audio recorder pro app. This app is not intended to be used as a music player, so it lacks, well, for lack of a better word...usability.  It also, as of lately, it's has occasionally got stuck in the middle of a track in a loop, much like an lp would.

Oh I hope that my Ak100 will work correctly.

oh, I forgot to mention, the s4 gives out a helluva lot of interference, so I have to put the phone in "airplane mode" for it to be free of interference noises.

I'm sure it will be fine.  Michael posted on the blog, him using an A&K player a month or so ago, with the LX.

The AK100, or future X5, or future DX50, would be my pairing of choice with the LX, if I switched.  No phone/amp combos for me.  I know I would get more calls, during music listening, if I went this route...rolleyes.gif

The same thing, my phone is for calls only.

Heh, I barely get calls.  My phone is for everything else, which is why I am really hoping for Android Audiophilia to take the next step.  I have half a mind to see if some of the app developers I know can make a simple music app with a clean GUI that can license the USB Audio Pro tech and save the day myself.

Middle position of the gain switch, technically volume knob at maximum, however some stereos may want a slightly lower volume to avoid distortion. In that case, back down on the volume knob.

I never checked this - I got the qusp LOD when I was hauling a Solo + amp all over the country, and the better form factor was a big advantage. But I just A/Bd it against the M8-included short LOD, and I actually think it's the tiniest bit cleaner and clearer. If that's real it's VERY small.

Finally got to try the HiFi M8 today at the Mook Audio Festival.

All I can say is that our preorder money was well spent indeed.

Build quality is great, as expected of a CEntrance product. I think a red iPod Touch would look amazing on top of the M8.

Couldn't really judge SQ well as the FitEar booth next to the CEntrance one was buzzing with activity at the time, but the M8 sounded clear and authoritative.

I especially liked the bass and treble switch; they were noticeable but not glaring like many other bass boosts.

Personally, with my TG!334 I left both the switches in the middle (1 level of boost).

Thanks CEntrance! Can't wait for my unit to ship out in August...

Thats my experience too. i have the piccolino, brings out the highs A BIT. Great with my ATH-ESW9, but my ES10 matches the Centrance LOD better.
