Centrance Hifi-M8 and Hifi-M8 LX (8 versions!) impressions thread - Page 78

Thanks for the info ComradeDylie, looks like getting a separate lightning CCK is a better option.

Can anybody confirm whether the iPad4 works with the HiFi M8 via the lightning to USB & USB-A to USB-B cable.

I have connected my iPad up with this combination to use FLAC Player playing 24/96 files but can't get the sound to come out via the M8.

I thought this combo was supposed to work but not sure if I am doing something wrong? I've turned the M8 of and on again but still no joy :-(

You selected the correct input on the back of the M8?

a2unu6yq.jpglike this?

The switch should be to the left to use the usb-B port.

Also you should be on the recent OS.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing as well (I know my CCK works as I have used it with my iPhone5). My iPad has 7.0.4 OS.

Does sound come out with other apps and music files?

Weird.

Have you tried an Apple Reset? Hold power down until it shuts off, keep holding until the silver apple logo appears. Worth a try.

I've just done a hard reset of my iPad and it now seems to be working fine. FLAC player also showing that the M8 is playing the files at the higher resolution as well :-)

Thanks for the help

If you had answered my question that nothing comes out when using other files and apps I would have recommended a reset as well.  Glad it's all sorted.

Sorry mate, not being ignorant just missed your message. I only have HiRes files on my iPad now so couldn't try anything else. Although thinking about it I could have seen if it would have down sampled and played the files via the sync cable connected to the iDevice connection on the M8.

Anyway all sorted now and thanks for your input :-)

I'm enjoying this little guy with 2 headphones at once...

C`mon!!!

There is still room for one more headphone.

Plug a third in, even better a 3.5mm splitter and up it to four!

:)

I haven't had a bad thing to say about the HiFi-M8 yet, and this still isn't a complaint, but I did want to comment that with two hard to drive low-impedance headphones (HE-500 and LCD-2) plugged in at the same time the HiFi-M8 performance seems to suffer noticeably.  I think I put the details in my RSA F-35 Lightning review, but off the top of my head I don't recall what specifically got worse with two orthodynamics plugged in simultaneously.

However, with one HD600/650 and one low impedance orthodynamic headphone everything is fine.  Also, if one of the difficult to drive low impedance orthodynamic phones was replaced with a more efficient V-MODA M-100 low-impedance phone then everything was fine as well (except for the volume mismatch between the M-100 and the LCD-2).

Honestly, I wouldn't want to play music like this always.  My new TH-600s and HD650s want different gain and impedance settings, and I had to turn the M8 back and forth every time I switched cans.  It was more a statement complimenting this little baby from CEntrance, and how it has a lot of juice to throw at the end user...
