Amp for my DT770 Pro 80?

Hello everyone,

so, long time no see Head-Fi, glad you're still here biggrin.gif

Aight, enough chit chat. My question is about my well working but not so good sounding DT770s.

In my opinion they lack that "good sounding bass" which was well advertised for me when I was getting them headphones while ago. They also sound quite boring without an external amp (that's how i usually use them, but when I plug them to my Denon AV home receiver, they feel like that they they come to life)

They just need more juice if I can sum it up like that. Volume is ok with my devices (iPhone 5, iPad Retina), but I think they could be better soundwise.

So what would be my best choice within my budget of 250 dollars? smily_headphones1.gif

If I sound confusing in any circumstances, dont be afraid to ask!

Thanks for help in advance, everyone!

The FiiO E17 is <$150 and should power those pretty well, also has a lot of cool EQ features

It is also nice and portable for the iDevices

Thanks for the response. Oh yes, I've heard some things about it. Does anyone have personal experience about it?

Check out the FiiO E12 and C&C BH. I have not heard the E12, but I have the E17 and I understand some people find the E12 a step up. I have had a chance to listen to the DT770 Pro 250 ohm with my C&C BH and they sounded very good, better than with just my phone or mp3 player.

i have a fiio e7 and it works great with my pair, its about 80-90$, although the e17 would be a step up and still within your budget but if you wanna save some cash the e7 works great.

The E07K and E17 are pretty much the same, except the E17 supports 24/192 with it's optical connection and has a little stronger amp, where the E07K does 24/96, no optical, battery last a little longer BUT it works with Android Phones...

Neither DAC in these two units will operate with Apple iDevices, they work as an analog amp only.

You would be better off with the C&C BH or a JDS Labs C5 unless you need a DAC for a laptop or desktop then either of the FiiO's would be fine...
