Replacement cable for over ear headphones

Thread Starter
The cable for my AKG K272s needs replacing. I have found the actual AKG replacement cable http://www.fdwcorp.com/product_image.php?imageid=84971 online but it goes for about $40, not including shipping. Are there any cheaper options, or is going cheaper a bad idea? It seems like it has two wires and a ground and i've seen it referred to as a "pigtail" cable.

Also, if there's any special modded cable where I could attach a short wire to the left/right/ground right in the ear with like half an inch sticking out and make the rest of the cable detachable, that would be awesome

Have you tried asking AKG directly?

Max, what the hell is the point of the discussion forum? To not ask questions, but act pompous?

Back to the ideas on best replacement cables for stock Sennies or AKG. I would like feedback from members on Zu Möbius II vs a Moon Audio comparative cable....the Black or Blue not the Silver Dragon as it is much more costly. I will use it on either HD 25ii or older 420s or 650s in a 5' length for mobile + amp.
So anybody want to compare or kvell about these two relatively cheap but better than stock cables? Appreciate your replies. Alejandro
