PRaT is probably the most important aspect of playback, and if the M8 sounds like the HTC ONE then it doesn't do well here.

Of course I understand PRaT. It's not your fault, but the word has other meanings Google it! Unfortunately, every time I see someone here using the term, it just makes me laugh.

What I am thinking about is Galaxy S6 vs HTC one M9. I know that S6 beats M9 in many ways, but what about audio stuff? It is still quite a concern for me. I don't want to pick up new Vivo because of its Chinese-locked rom and big size....

M9 is better than S6 in terms of audio quality. That said, iPhone 6 is better than both, especially in terms of PRaT.

iPhone 6+, no question. For audiophile use primarily, there may be others, but a SMARTPHONE for audiophile use, iPhone 6+ definitely.

Is there a difference in sound between 6 and 6+?

No.

What type of sound signature does the iPhone have nowadays? I haven't had once since the iPhone 4 and I remember that being fairly neutral. Is the Note 4 neutral or warm/bright?

IMHO/IME, yes there is. I own both right now. Bass of 6+ is slightly slower (more decay) than what it should be.

I suspect its the output impedance on the 6+, which is greater (3.18ohms vs 2+ on the 6). Makes sense because higher output impedance means less damping on the drivers, so more decay.
