I burned my DT 990 pro (250 ohm). Can I upgrade to 600 ohm?

Hello.

Do not ask me how...  I burned my DT 990 PRO (250 ohm)   eek.gif

The question is: new drivers (250 ohm) cost € 48.70 each, the drivers for DT 990 Edition (600 ohm) cost the same.
I think (for info from beyerdynamic web site) PRO and Edition have the same fixation, does anyone know for sure?
And if it is possible, perhaps can be it a nice upgrade? tongue_smile.gif

Thanks on advance.

Cheers

I do not think the 600 Ohm version is an upgrade.  I like the 250 Ohm version and unless your source has a high ( > 5 Ohm ) output resistance even the 32 Ohm would be preferred due to the more constant frequency dependent impedance.

If you have amp to drive them properly, go for it. The difference might be subtle but worth it IMHO, but I can only speak from my experience with DT880, DT990 should be no different.

If you go from the pro 250 to the 600 ohm version you'll notice minimal changes. Probably on treble and bass extension.

Thanks so much.
I will continue with the 250 ohm. beyersmile.png
