does x5 have the same problem as the X3 when you are switching and scanning new cards?  Seems to be caching the old song list on the x3

I like to use the X5 / e12 combo with my full sized cans when I don't want to be tied to a listening station. This is great because the X5 provides the clarity I'm looking for and the e12 provides the oomph my cans require. The IEMs your looking at don't have the same requirements as my full sized headphones so I don't imagine you'd need the extra power.

Sometimes I need the bass boost on and sometimes I have to turn it off. It all depends on the headphone. AKG K-550 bass boost on. LCD-XC sometimes on, mostly off. LCD-2 always off. Vmoda m-100 always off with bass EQ down using the X5. Again, based on the IEMs you listed, it seems like you should be getting some terrific bass out of them so I'm not sure you'll benefit from the e12.

What you may find with the e12 is some added soundstage and instrument separation over the X5, at least that's what I find with my gear (could be because of the power I need). The big question is, do you want to pay $130 and double the thickness to hear what may or may not be better SQ with your IEMs?

Thanks, what you describe is exactly what I suspected. I can hear how the LO is better than the HPO on the X5, so I'm sure I will appreciate the improved SQ, with that being said, still considering if is worth the cost and extra size.

I just got the X5 leather case and I really like it. Feels very premium. Also makes me feel like I have a suped up AK120 😆

Hey, anyone got an opinion about this 128gb micro sd sold through Amazon at about half the price of the SanDisk one?

Feels too good to be true.

Yeah, that's pretty cheap.  I'm not sure that I would jump on this one quite yet.  In fact, I'm holding off on buying any 128gb cards until the end of the year at the earliest.

Love the X5, by the way.  I've had zero crashes in about 4 hours of daily use with FW 2.0.

Did the X5 change from 60 to 120 steps for volume control at some point? If so, which firmware made that transition?

It has always been 120 steps, as far as I can remember, since firmware v1.

@ClieOS: Thanks for the quick answer.

I got the HS7 for free when I purchased my X5

Never really used it, just collecting dust like my E12. Looks and feels like a somewhat premium case, no quality issues with the zipper or material.

If there's something you want to know about it you can ask and I'll take pictures etc when I get off work =)

Albeit, I don't have the stacking kit as I don't intend on using the E12. I can still stack it with bands however.

Maybe you are confusing with the X3, that change indeed happened for it.

FWIW, I have been monitoring the battery on my X5, have got plus 10 hours, (mix use of flac, 24bit flac and mp3).

The first battery bar takes forever to disappear (a handful of hours), then when there is only two bar lefts, that gives me around 15 minutes of playback.

I guess Fiio should check the way the meter works.

Talked to this seller yesterday morning and he indicated that it took him a while to qualify a source for these cards but the current vendor has proven to be good.  He does a  QC check (sounds like a couple of units) from each lot he receives before filling orders.  He offered to send me the test unit he just finished evaluating.  He is currently out of stock but expects more this week and indicated there would be no problems with a refund should any units prove defective.

I have two units on order and will provide feedback once I give them a whirl
