Yes, this is the way it is with mine too... It is a bit frustrating, but if you want to navigate to another song in the same folder, you can use the wheel while in "Now playing" screen and it will show you the other songs in the current category or folder you are playing.

That's a nice feature, but I do think volume should have taken precedence. Having to long press the OK button, before turning the wheel should be for this and just turning the wheel for volume would be better for me.

Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick". This is 48KHZ, 24 Bit. However I am unsure how to Rip the music from the DVD. I have tried Xilisoft's DVD Audio Ripper but I can only get 48Khx 16Bits. Any suggestions either as to how to get 24bit OR should I be looking at a different program??

I use a program called "DVD Audio Extractor" and it can do 24 bit rips. It costs money though. I believe the trial version works well for a short period of time.

I also got the HS6 stacking kit for my E12 DIY but have been too busy just listening to the X5 by itself to try it out just yet.

They just got the HS7 hard case, which I'm thinking about picking up, as well.

I like the HS9 case as it makes lockscreen 1 useable in the pocket.

Here's a little something that should help people know how to get their album art, lyrics etc. lined up for the X5. :)

Embedded art does not work for me in .mp3 or .dsf - as far as I know it is not possible in .wav or .dff due to the lack of meta data.

Embedded art does work fine in .flac

Just bought it. Exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks!

I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but I sure hope somebody can help me out.  I have just purchased an X5.  So far, I am loving it.  I am listening to it every night before I go to sleep - the sound is astounding.

Being new to all things audiophile, I have only just now started learning a little bit about DAC.   Here's what I know so far:

•  You connect the unit to your computer to listen to digital music already on your computer, which gets converted to an analog signal through the device - which supposedly makes music sound better!

Here is what I am unsure of, and I welcome all insight and feedback:

•  If I already have the songs on my X5 and simply just listen to them straight from the device (whether through headphones, or through my home speaker system), is it the same, or better, or worse than converting the file from my computer through a USB cable connected to the unit as a DAC and listening that way?

•  If I want to listen to music from my computer, through my home stereo speaker system - is it better to stream through my X5 as a DAC and then into my home stereo speakers?  What if I have FLAC files on my computer, and a player (like VLC) and just connect the computer directly to my home stereo speaker system?  Will this not also be a superior sound?  Or, is it still better to stream the music through the X5 in DAC mode, and then into my speakers?

I'm a little uncertain of what exactly the purpose of using it as a DAC is - if some of these other listening scenarios are equally as good or better.

Thanks in advance for any way you can help clear this up for me!

You have to use a DAC to listen to digital music - Digital Analog Converter - your headphones/speakers require an analog signal.

The question you have to ask is which equipment has the best DAC?

It's extremely unlikely to be your PC, so streaming digital to either X5 or HiFi and allowing them to do the conversion will result in superior sound.

Only you will know whether the DAC in X5 is better than the DAC in your HiFi amp - you can compare by using line out (X5's DAC) or coax out (Hifi's DAC) and seeing which you prefer.

IMHO, this really is much better. Well done CH23!

Thank you for your comment!

I can find some MFi certificated cable which made in China at Akihabara, Tokyo.

What about let them to make a cable for FiiO?

But it's very interesting how cheap the HA-P50 is. When I was in the market for an idevice DAC/Amp 4 months ago they were all $500+ with some reaching $799 (my T720) under the excuse that they pay a lot for Apple MFI certification to use their authentification chips in order to pull digital out via lightning cable. So the HA-P50 is really throwing sticks in their spokes by undercutting by so much. Competition is great for the consumer wink.gif

I think we just need adding MFi certificated "microUSB to Lightning" cable, don't we??(and ofcourse software support.)

I also interested in the price of HA-P50, nano iDSD and micro iDSD with MFi.

Surprising. My artwork is embedded in my MP3s - I did this specifically for the X5 because Folder.jpg is not supported. I did the embedding with the Foobar batch tool. It displays fine.

I've been using mp3tag and it works as it should for FLAC, but not MP3 or DSF - I will experiment some more....

It would be easier if external album art was supported - folder.jpg or cover.jpg and it has been promised ever since the X3 first appeared.

Edit: Using Foobar to attach the cover.jpg loads exactly the same tag as Mp3tag and has the same result with my X5. The embedded image shows up fine with a FLAC file but not with MP3 or DSD

This gets even weirder - Mp3 embedded art not showing on X5 - converted to flac - embedded art shows up fine! ????

FLAC with embedded art to MP3 - artwork shows!
