I understand that it reads by track and that there is a Bugzilla entry for the disc number issue.  Any chance that there can be an option to display songs by the song tag instead of the filename?  It just seems more organized that way to me, not at all a dealbreaker though just something I think looks better aesthetically.

You have helped to let me know that the X5 and P7 could be a fantastic match. Evidently different people have different frequency sensitivities and so I am open to find out if mine are akin to yours. I want it to be so, lol, b/c the phones are so attractive and collapsible.

There might be better headphones in sound quality, but not in combination with the looks and feel you get. Especially when it comes to portable ones, that shouldn't look like wtf does he have on his head.

No just Chinese companies. JDS Labs applied as well, and all they got is tons of legal paper to fill and no actual progress after submission.

Do you know that a while back when FiiO went to Fraunhofer Society to apply for a mp3 license, they put the German on a bit of a shock because they are the first Chinese company to do so? ...and how many DAP that Chinese has made over the years? Do you think not granting license actually going to stop people from copying it? In reality, those who actually apply for it is most likely the one that will play by the rules.

Firmware v2.0 with bottom scrollwheel (1.23b will be made on request)

Changes made to stock fw2.0:
Changed homescreen background
Changed outer icons
Replaced "animated" on screen scrollwheel with static image

Thanks. It looks really nice, but, just like I expected I can definitely say that the reversed scrolling is counter-intuitive to me.

With the access to the graphics we are getting it seems like we can only make changes to the pictures displaying 6 different distinct states(100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, 20% and 0). That is to say I don't think we can currently mod it to show exact %. I've made a mod of CH23's last version with %'s, but it is effectively the same thing you are getting now, just different presentation. If there's interest, I can share it...

Been searching for the gain setting info, but couldn't find a lot. Does anyone know it's better to have low gain with high volume setting or vice versa? Have Senn 558 and Shure 535. Thanks!

I agree. Although SQ takes first precedence, looks, feel and portability for my usage must be considered too since I'll be buying phones for travel, mainly. Imagine someone out in public with the AT A900 with the stiff overhead wire and monster size? I happen to own a pair, but you won't see me out in public with them.  Don't laugh (no... do laugh), I take the bus all the time here in San Diego, and you should see some of the stuff people are wearing...Positively Plan 9 From Outer Space, lol.

Anyway, if everything works out, I will be ordering my X5s on May 30th. I'm so excited! I will be listening to them with my Unique Melody-modified 4 driver TF10s. That should be a good match, no? They worked well when I had the J3s but that was a different era.

any word on any 2.XX betas?

You know, Headfi pibbles, I really like the reviews I've read here about the DX90s from IBasso. Seems like it might be a worthy competitor to the X5... and perhaps it may be on par or better than the X5 in sound quality....but...you know what? ...I so much appreciate the back and forth exchanges between Headfiers and the Fiio gang. That alone is THE determining factor: I'm going for the X5, being a proud owner. It means a lot to me and I'm so impressed that the makers are so involved with its customers. It's a heart thing and I want you to know that, James, Joe & Co! It shows me that business does not have to be this cold thing so prevalent in our society today.

This.

Current 2.0 still has a lot of small and medium issues. Today, I discovered that if I connect the charger with the X5 off, then it won't turn on until unplugged or reset.

Emphasis mine. It's definitely the preferred method, for one simple reason: filenames are limited to certain characters, and exclude many.  Tags, on the other hand, do not have this limitation.  I've already come across several of my tracks with underscores or strange "x in a box" symbols where special characters should be.  Colons and question marks are definitely amongst those characters that are not being properly displayed, and I haven't investigated my foreign albums yet.

Time to open a Bugzilla account and add my voice to the others, I guess…

I can confirm this, as am experiencing this right this moment...

Thanks, Howie, will keep that in mind.

X5, FW 2.0.

Before I post this as a bug, can someone confirm the following is correct:

1) Play a song, any song, by navigating to it through Category mode.

2) Navigate back to the Main Menu by pressing the Back key repeatedly.

3) Navigate to and choose Now Playing.

You should now be viewing the currently playing song.

At this point, if I press the Back button, it returns me to the Main Menu.  Is that the same for everyone?  There's no way of navigating from within Now Playing directly to the file hierarchy?  You have to navigate manually to the song via Folder or Category mode, right?

I can't believe some of the stuff that's been upvoted.  There are some basics that haven't been properly implemented and people have put Playlist Creation at the top of the list?  Nuts.  We're on our way to another Snakes On A Plane folks.

Yep this happens for me too, it's one of my biggest frustrations with the x5 (that and the possesed centre button in lock screen 1), it makes eqing between tracks a real pain!
